Natalie Merchant got her start at age 17 as the lead singer of the folk-pop group 10,000 Maniacs. After years of critical success in the 80s Merchant decided to go solo in 1994. Since then her popularity has bloomed in the wake of the albums 'Tigerlily', 'Ophilia', 'Motherland', 'Live in Concert' and 'The House Carpenter's Daughter'. This release is part of the series by VH1 where artists play their music and tell the stories behind the hits. It was filmed at the Manhattan Center in New York.

All songs are beautifully delivered and made even more special when you know their true meanings, especially the truly sublime "Verdi Cries".
If their is a flaw with the DVD, its only the fact that the set should have been a lot longer!!!
Two of them are of Natalie Merchant.
This has a version of Karnaval that puts you in the middle of bustling
hustling city life.
Live in New York has a version of Space Oddity.
Both DVD's make me heady with their differing variations of shades and relief. Each song is a little bijou.
