After debating whether 20 or 30 mm was right, I'm glad I went for the 30mm option. This tape provides double sided velcro that is surprisingly low profile and strong.
I bought this for my Concept 2 rower to add little loops on the foot straps to stop them getting in the way (kind of like a watch band loop). What I've actually found is that having this tape around is like having a fix for problems you never knew you had. It seem like every day I end up saying Ooo, I've got some Velcro tape that will sort those cables, tidy that rats nest, hold that thing stead in the boot of the car.
The strips were tempting but I'm glad I went with the tape as I've always needed varying lengths so far.
OK - so the title I have given this review is (and was meant to be) tongue-in-cheek, because restraining a rampant marsupial is - I should think - probably one of the very few things for which these Velcro ties are totally unsuitable!
Realistically, the potential list of uses is endless. Most people will (very sensibly) use this product for tidying the spaghetti-like muddle of cables that most modern electrical appliances seem to spawn. I actually cut a couple of lengths of this 10mm wide Velcro strip to provide some extra support to the quick-release clips on my detachable camera strap: I'm not sure whether they actually need it, but it does provide a little extra reassurance against the strap unexpectedly coming apart and tipping my expensive camera to the ground - much cheaper than the proprietary alternative being offered by a famous photographic brand, and it seems to do the trick! Being a 5m roll, it should last me a good while too!
Honestly - this is probably my favourite gadget related purchase of the last several years, simply because it has had such a useful impact on EVERY gadget I have!
The concept is simple: Got a cable? Could it be tidier? Cut some of this to length, wind up cable (Loop it or fold it into a useful length) and then wrap the strip around it.
I have reclaimed so much space from various kit boxes by just tidying up the cables properly - it also makes you look more professional when you turn up somewhere with a kit box and everything is sensibly packed!
I may need another 5 metres....
I suppose it could be useful in a recreational setting too..... :-D
I've found this incredibly useful, especially for tidying electric cables when they're not in use. Simply wind up the cable, wrap enough round to give a firm overlap, then cut. As it's only narrow, it's easy to undo when needed, and is suitable for fine cables such as mp3 player earphones to larger mains cables. As it's cut to length, there's no waste, nor is there a huge bulk of fastener to make it impractical or unsightly. If you've got a drawer or cupboard with lots of things with cables thrown into it (e.g. phone chargers, hairdryers, headphones) and find that it's like unravelling spaghetti when you want to use something, then this is definitely something that will cure the problem. Better than elastic bands (that perish and break) or cable twists (the wire often works it's way out of the end of the twist to pierce fingers, etc) or string (how many times does that supposedly easy-to-undo knot just become permanent so you have to just cut the string?). I thought I'd need more than one roll after I'd been round everything in the house, but I've been pleasantly surprised at just how far it's gone, however, if I do run out, I'll definitely be buying more of the same.
Have used this for many things so far and I'm highly impressed. One usage we had was to keep our new kitten from opening up the budgies cage, so we used these as an easy to use locking mechanism. Second usage was for some small secure curtain tiebacks, nothing fancy but kept them in place perfectly. Thirdly we used them to keep cablestidy, as was intended. Fantastic product, will buy again.
This is a very efficient way to keep cablestidy. As it is branded Velcro I have confidence it will give years is service - just like the pack I have recently emptied. A little hot-melt-glue from a glue-gun is a good way to quickly fasten a loop of the Velcro round the cable so it doesn’t get lost.
This is really useful. I bought it to tidy up various electrical cables that I previously tidied using rubber bands. This velcro is really strong - you just cut it to length for the specific cable you're looking to tidy. If it's a heavy cable then use the velcro as it is - the longer the length of velco the stronger the grip.
When I've been tidying small light weight cables I've cut the velco lengthways. Not only does this make the velcro go further but the smaller width looks much neater when put round thin lightweight cables.
Until I bought this I didn't realise how many electric cables I had around the house.
Overall, an excellent product that I am happy to recommend to anybody who wants neat cables.
I work in IT and must have bought and used more than 100 meters of this stuff in the last 10 years for tidying and storing cables. Occasionally it comes in handy for something random too. The fact that you can reuse it is icing on the cake. I even use the green version now out in the garden.
