Fantastic Audio Quality for a Low Price

I spent a lot of time looking at different gaming headsets. The mic quality on many of them are questionable, but the biggest problem was the high cost. It is hard to justify paying hundreds of pounds on a gaming headset; especially when they all use cables that are physically connected to the headphones (so if the cable snaps, they need to be binned).

The beauty of the BoomPro mic is that they can be used with any pair of headphones with a 3.5mm headphone jack. This means you can convert your favourite headphones into a gaming headset. This makes much more sense to me as most gaming headsets are either too big, are bad for listening to music, or just too expensive. With the BoomPro you can get the best of both worlds.

The microphone quality is very good. It is more than good enough for playing games with friends or live streaming. I use my V Moda headphones when working at my computer and then simply take out the regular audio cable and insert the boom pro when I am playing games.

Sony WH-1000XM2 setup

I have bought these for my Sony WH-1000XM2 since the build-in mic by Sony is terrible and has poor (close to none) noise cancelling. The setup is great - just plug and you are ready-to-go. The noise cancelling is great and I had no problems even when speaking with lots of background noise around me (feedback I had from the other side was there could not hear any background noise at all).

Here comes to the problem though - the 3.5mm cable that plugs directly to the headset is loose meaning I constantly lose the stereo sound (I only hear the left headphone echoing). What's even worse it that the cable disconnects completely from time to time unless I am not 100% static and not moving my head at all and when it does unplug my headphones goes OFF (automatic function by Sony), meaning I still hear some sound, however I cannot use any of my active noise cancelling headphones functions unless I force the plug back-in and turn them on. It seems the 3.5mm cable is just too thick for most of the headphones on the market and just cannot stay firmly connected (see comparison with the original Sony WH-1000XM2 3.5mm cable)

I was using the corsair void pro wireless for gaming and got a new pair of Sony WH-1000xm3's for music.

I loved my new Sony's and ended up researching how I could use its mic when playing games, I discovered this wasn't really practical.

I then asked reddit for a solution, and was recommended this product.

This is the perfect solution, audio is crisp and clear and everything works as expected.

A tip for buyers would be to look up how to play back the mic output through your headphones through windows sound controller.

I bought this for use with my Sony WH-1000XM3 headphones as the mic on these Sony headphones is terrible. This set plugs into the headphones perfectly with the mic boom positioned just where you need it. The quality of this set is fantastic, the cable is the braided kind and never kinks, the plugs are high quality and the volume and mute controls work flawlessly.

I use this headset plugged into my PC for gaming, for work and with my mobile phone. For gaming, this setup is far superior than other dedicated gaming headsets that I have tried.

Highly recommended and a bargain and the RRP.

Fantastic little mic

A fantastic microphone for the money. Add it to a good pair of headphones like the Phillips SHP-9500 and you'll have a much better headset than most £200 headsets on sale.

The mic is extremely clear. Not too trebbly, and has good lowend and depth to it. The only downside is it can pickup more background noise than I'd have wished for. It also doesn't come with a boom pop filter.

The mute switch and volume slider is nice and works well. The cable is great quality, a braided black cable which is fairly thin and unobtrusive. Don't let that put you off, it feels that it will last the test of time.

I had to use the provided splitter for it to work on my PC so be cautious. It wouldn't work on the my PC IO with the single 3.5mm jack. I put the splitter into 1 mic input and 1 audio input on my internal soundcard to work.

Sound quality to the headphones is completely unaffected which is a huge plus.

All in all a great and clever little device

Expensive for what it is and has some issues

First off the sound quality produced by this mic is very good and that's the best part about it. However there are a few issues I have with this product. The packaging of the product is quite nice but the actually product feels very overpriced for what you are getting. You can buy an entire gaming headset with similar quality at this price.

Secondly the inline control is too heavy and bulky. It is also too close to the microphone itself, it should be about 5cm lower down the cable. Right now it is at nipple height so has to be clipped to your clothes to avoid irritation. It also snags really easily on things. The inline control is very poor.

Lastly there is zero noise cancelling with this mic and both sides record audio so this is no better than using a desktop microphone as it picks up other noise around you easily.
