Exactly what you'd hope for and expect from Borknagar. It gets better the more you listen to it. Darker than the likes of Empiricism but every bit as epic in sound.
If you like this you should probably check out Keep of Kalessin : Reptilian.
For where it really got going, Pallas: The Sentinel.

Borknagar have been around since the mid 1990's, with various line up changes (This album sees more).
Their previous album, Universal' had it's moments, but was generally not that good, compared with the bands usual high standards.

With previous vocalist, ICS Vortex returning to handle the bass duties and share the lead vocals with Vintersorg.
Much was expected with Vortex, after being dumped by Dimmu Borgir, his returned has given Borknagar a much needed kick up the pants.
He not only brings his masterful voice, bass and also a presence that has been lacking some what, in recent times.
That said, his return does not over shadow the contributions of the rest of the band.

Not a dud to be found here. The Borknagar trademark collision of black/folk/progressive metal, is here in it's element.
