I was not disappointed reading this book. And yes it is a book, with well written and researched text and some beautiful photographs. The authors' aim was to make our history accessible to a wider audience, something really lacking in most history books today. And to make it accessible to those people, who let's face it, are the victims of the present history of auterity and the destruction of our society. They are more likely to do something about it and from this book will see that there is a wonderful history of working class women and men who have made this country a good place to live in, and that they can do it again!! If we are to fight the present Tory Government we need more of these books!

I loved this book - it's extremely informative and well-researched and it prompted me to book onto one of the author's red flag walks in Manchester - fantastic stuff. I'm a fan of Hannah Mitchell's autobiography and so was delighted to find out more about her in this book.

I was dissapointed to receive not a book but rather a "paper supplement"
It seemed to be written as a historical account with lots of factual accounts of happenings but nothing to keep you gripped .
