"Stephanie Laurens' heroines are marvellous tributes to Georgette Heyer." - Cathy Kelly "All I need is her name on the cover to make me pick up the book." - New York Times bestselling author Linda Howard"
About the Author
New York Times bestselling author Stephanie Laurens originally began writing as an escape from the dry world of professional science. Her hobby quickly became a career; she has been writing historical romance novels for more than 20 years. Currently living outside Melbourne, Australia with her husband and two cats, she spends most of her days writing new stories in her signature 'Errol Flynn meets Jane Austen" style. Both hero and heroine are just my kind of regency romantics. A capable, charming young woman in her late 20s, Lucinda will not be browbeaten. Harry, charming but totally unwilling to commit in the smallest degree, feels obliged to protect her from the 'young bloods', bucks and rakes who visit Newmarket in Race Week - even though she is convinced that she is quite capable of managing her business dealings without his somewhat arrogant prescence. It is a good length book so there is plenty of space to cover the unfolding romance and also to incorporate the money-strapped heir to her late husband's estate - who, to his horror and surprise, found that the personal wealth his uncle had accrued from business dealings had not being entailed and had been left to Lucinda and her young stepdaughter. This leads to nepharious go-ings on and adds to the story.
I would recommend this book to anyone who likes Regency Romances of the more superior kind.Read more ›
