This film has a brilliant story, twists and turns and genuinely good acting coupled with well crafted editing and directing. The running dialogue is good (and the subtitles are very good, especially compared to some others i've seen). The story line is moving and interesting from the perspective of gender and sexuality whilst now allowing those themes to overshadow the other issues raised and the simply good quality story being told.
The issues of asylum, detention centres and deportation as well as the plight of newly arrived immigrants are all dealt with here in what appears to be based on well researched evidence. No signs of hollywoodification here.
Aside from all the 'serious' issues this film addresses, it succeeds in bringing the audience an hour and a half of enjoyable entertainment. Thought provoking, funny and insightful, it's a watch that will most likely leave a strong impression.
I bought this film on the strength of the other review. Thank you very much. It's a lovely film...the lead actor(ess) is amazing and displays wonderful subtlety and gentle strength. Really good story. I'd say, "Give it a go!" :D
