Even by M&B standards this is poor stuff. There is some sparky dialogue between the principals but there are pages of unrealistic "info-dump" dialogue elsewhere. The real low point came with the sentence:
' "And Winnie's very pregnant," he added, alluding to his sister-in-law's pregnancy.'
I wonder what else he could possibly have been alluding to?
Thank goodness I only wasted 99 pence on this.
The second book, McKettrics of Texas: Tate by Linda Lael Miller is more standard M&B fare. A pleasant read which entertains for a few hours. A shame it has to be hidden behind Untameable.
I've averaged my stars, one for the first book and four for the second, then rounded up.
Jon is a dark brooding character with a need to protect, but never to love. However this does not detract from his character at all, you still fall in love with him again and again as the plot develops and you she him grow and re-evaluate all his beliefs and his past. Jocelyn is strong, confident, sassy, excellent at her job and a great Mum - she is also exhausted, emotionally drained and completely and the end of her tether, she also hides the biggest secret possible and must keep her gorgeous boss Jon where she can help him and also protect him from ever unearthing this devastating secret. Can she continue to juggle everything and still keep her heart?
McKettricks are HOT! Having read the second book in this two for one which is by Linda Lael Miller i fell completely in love with all the characters in this book, not just Tate and Libby. However on searching i found that this is actually book 11 in a series of 15 - this means i am going to have to go back and read all 15 now in order! Yippie!
This being the middle of a series was actually no problem at all and the book can quite easily be read as a stand alone. Tate is gorgeous, confident, strong and definitely all Alpha but can also admit his faults and when he is wrong (unless its to his brothers!) but can he put these wrongs right and will Libby ever trust him with her heart again? Libby would be an amazing friend but lacks so much self confidence and you just want to reach into the book and give her a giant hug. In no way does this make her a weak character and she has plenty of fire when needed.
Excellent book and i cannot wait to read the full McKettrick series.
