As someone who lives in the Heaton area of Bradford and has walked in the footsteps of the main characters frequently geographically; the plot and location was rivetting and made all the more sinister due it's familiarity. An excellent and tense read. I needed to read it over two sittings to match the urgency of the unfurling plot and pace with which it was written. I definitely want to read more about DCI McGuires cases.Unwittingly our paths could even cross one day!

This has to be one of the best thrillers I have ever read. DI Gus McGuire and his associates are delightful characters and I am looking forward to reading more in the series. Gripping from start to finish, this is a must read for all crime story fans.

Excellent read, it's possible I'm biased, being a born and bred Bradfordian, but absolutely loved this book and thought the authors depiction of our wonderful diverse city was spot on! I think it would be great to see a screen adaptation!?!

5* but I am still disappointed. I cannot find any other books on Amazon by Liz Mistry. What am I going to read after this one!

This was an excellent read. I cannot think of any negatives. The story brings Bradford's many races and cultures to life and shows what a melting pot that area now is. The book has plenty of interesting and well drawn characters, many of whom I hope we will meet again in future stories (so please hurry and write/publish them).

I wholly recommend 'Unquiet Souls'. It is a police procedural that will grab you right from the start. I'm pretty sure you won't need to use the Kindle's bookmark feature while reading this because you won't be able to put it down.

Enjoy ...

Unquiet Souls had me completely gripped from start to finish. Liz Mistry keeps the pace, tension and interest going by using short, snappy chapters and switching between narrative strands, so that the reader is aware of what is happening in 'real time' . The premise behind the novel is grim and uncompromising, but the essential decency of the main character, Gus McGuire, and his police team, acts as a counter to the bleak vision of exploitation and inhumanity. I really liked Gus, with his dreadlocks and impatience to be back at work after a psychologically and physically damaging incident, and I'm looking forward to seeing how Liz Mistry develops his character in future books - and whether there is romance in store for him (my money's on one of his team ...) Bradford is not a place I know well, and I thought Liz Mistry gave a real flavour of the city and its surroundings, without overdoing the description. The same applies to her depiction of the multi-cultural nature of the city; how different cultures and religions can live and work together successfully. Excellent.
