About the Author

Bob Sehlinger, a Lowell Thomas Award-winning journalist, is best known as the creator and producer of The Unofficial Guide series. He is credited with being the first to apply research techniques from the fields of operations research and statistics to travel guides. Among other projects, he was able to develop mathematical models that could save theme park patrons more than three hours of standing in queue in a single day. Bob Sehlinger is founder and co-owner of Keen Communications, a book publishing company that includes Menasha Ridge Press, Clerisy Press, and Wilderness Press. The author of 27 books, Sehlinger is a past president of the Publishers Association of the South, and has served at the invitation of the U.S. State Department and the U.S. Information Service on educational missions for publishers in Hungary, Romania, and Russia. ----- Seth Kubersky has worked for more than 20 years as a theatrical artist, culture critic, and travel journalist. In addition to coauthoring The Unofficial Guide to Disneyland, Kubersky also contributes to The Intrepid Traveler's Florida guidebooks and Orlando Attractions Magazine. He has been interviewed by FOX-TV, Rudy Maxa, Coaster Radio, and The Unofficial Universal Orlando Podcast. Named Best Arts Writer in The Daily City's 2013 readers' poll, Kubersky writes an arts and entertainment column "Live Active Cultures" that appears in every issue of the Orlando Weekly, Central Florida's leading alternative newspaper. A native of Livingston, New Jersey, Kubersky earned a B.A. in theater at The College of William and Mary in Virginia. He has produced and directed dozens of plays through his award-winning Empty Spaces Theatre Co. and at the Orlando International Fringe Theatre Festival. As a stage technician and entertainment supervisor at Universal Orlando from 1996 to 2000, he worked on the Ghostbusters Spooktacular and Terminator 2: 3-D attractions, Mardi Gras parades, and Halloween mazes. Kubersky lives in downtown Orlando with his wife, Genevieve, and their cats, Java and Brubeck. ----- A lifelong Disney theme park fan, Len Testa co-authors The Unofficial Guides to Walt Disney World, Disneyland, and Britain's Best Days Out. In grad school, Len's master's thesis described new computer techniques for generating efficient theme park touring plans, for which Len was awarded a U.S. patent. These days, Len leads the team at, the website and research arm of The Unofficial Guides. Len has stayed at every Disney hotel, experienced every Disney ride, and eaten at every Disney restaurant and food cart in the U.S. When he's not at a Disney theme park, Len lives in Greensboro, North Carolina, in a mid-century modern house whose kitchen was custom-built after one of Space Mountain's post-show scenes.

I love unofficial guide. We have relied on them for trips to Florida and I always seem to order a new one even though most of the information is the same. This one will help us plan a holiday to California. The book is split into multiple sections covering travel, accomodation, review of the attractions themselves etc. The WDW version is really thick and heavy. This one is less so.. If you're from the UK you need to know that majority of content is geared to a US audience and therefore some of their preoccupations with travelling and tastes as well. Remember that US folk have very few vacation days and so time at Disneyland is intended to be a full on experience and probably too expensive for the average Brit doing 14 days at a time. So it is light on saving money. It is an excellent companion to Touring Plan which is mentioned in the book and is well recommended for both Disneyland and WDW and will I can guarantee it save you a lot of time and family arguments. It is fundamentally clever stuff and I've lost track of how many regular visitors from the UK to Florida think they know it all and yet the unofficial guide still trumps their knowledge. How? Well Bob and his gang are in the parks every single day, they spend years analysing the stats and so they will always be more knowledgeable than average Joe from the UK. End of the day a trip to the US costs thousands. It is false economy not to invest £20 in a good book and a touring plan.

We are going to Disneyland, California for the first time in March this year. I am sure with this guide we are going to have a productive and fun trip. It is FULL of all the information you need and tips galore to help you master your way around this park. It comes with a plan to suit your days at the park (situated at the back of the book), if followed correctly it is sure to navigate you easily around the park thus avoiding long lines for the rides. I have enjoyed reading it and am on my second read! By the way, it explains all of the rides, suitability for age etc, also lists all restaurants in full description etc. Worth every penny!!

Don't leave home without it! Great book but to get best value out of it buy before you book anything! My only suggestion for improvement would be to have a little key beside the items in the touring guides (e.g. a little tape measure for height restrictred rides or an S for parent swaps etc. We found it invaluable to get the best out of our trip.

Have a great time. Send Mickey our love.

I had the 2008 version but was going to go again this December. Honestly, it is not much different than the 2008 version. I mainly bought it for the updated pricing and cars land section. Also it is just fun to read and builds the excitement for my trip.

Planning a trip to CA this summer. Taking my 9 and 5 year old to Disney. Book helped me chose going two days to Disneyland instead of one day and Disneyland and one day at California Adventures. Also had great tips on when to go on certain rides etc. Highly recommended!

HASH(0xa1389528) out of 5 stars A Necessity! 22 April 2014

I wish I could give it 10 stars! Everyone who goes to Disneyland should read this book first. I cannot stress this enough. This book will increase your enjoyment of the park many times over. Don't spend all your time there standing in lines and wandering around. This book tells you how to use your time there wisely. We try to go to Disneyland every 2-3 years. I buy the latest copy of this book each time. It tells me about all the newest attractions and any changes in Disney policies and procedures. There are specialized touring plans included for families with small children or with teenagers or with older people. Included are plans that vary depending on how many days you have to spend there. You can also find out about the food and accommodations both within the park and nearby. This book is not a Disney product so it tells the good and how to avoid or minimize the bad. You need this book. You will not be disappointed.

An all-around guidebook to Disneyland. It's especially good for those who've visited Walt Disney World in Florida but not Disneyland in California because it compares & contrasts the two parks and tells you what's better in each.

This book is full of useful information about Disneyland and California Adventures. For some reason Disney seems to give only a minimal amount of information about the logistics of visiting the parks. This book filled in the gaps and helped me feel comfortable and confident taking my 4 year old and very anxious 7 year old to Disneyland.
