This is the prelude to the last book in Melody’s Beachwood Bay series featuring the Callahan brothers. I’ve never read any of the books in the series but going on this little snippet I would probably think about giving them a go. It sounds like a similar series to Crista McHugh’s Kelly brothers series.
The story is super short so you don’t really get to know the characters in any depth. One thing you do learn about both characters is that they both have done things because it’s been the right thing or because it’s been what’s expected of them. The masked ball that the characters are in the process of attending give both the characters and the story a feeling of being free, being someone new and being unburdened by everyday life for a short time. There is an exciting chemistry between the characters. It’s an instant spark that is prominent from the beginning of their time together.
The story leaves you on a cliffhanger setting you up for the start of the full novel however it could be enjoyed as a novella on its own, out with the series.
A tale to tell you how the last of the Callahan brothers finds a love interest that's sure to rock his world in more ways than one.
This is the beginning of the end for this series and whilst sad I can't wait to read the final installment to come.
Ash is the eldest Callahan brother. He meets Noelle quite by chance as he tries to save her shoe from being de-heeled as it's stuck in the grate on their way to a charity masked ball. What overcomes them both is a whirlwind of feelings and connection that startles them both. Ash is a very controlled person and Noelle has always done the right thing - so I just loved the simplicity of boy meets girl and them just running free for just one night - no responsibilities, no ties, just the here and now.
The only thing I didn't like was the cliffhanger. I hate cliffhangers and it has you right at the "Cinderella" dash....seriously, Noelle has to run due to a phone call and leaves Ash sleeping....WHAT!!!
Overall, the story flows well and I was sucked in at the first page. Treat it as a teaser for Unforgettable (Book 8), which will be read next!!
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author.
