I really enjoyed this book.Sagan produced a great love story but it remains an 'easy' read. The book is about a passionate relationship between a young succesful playwright,Edouard, and a beautiful struggling actress,Beatrice. What I liked was that Sagan only had a handful of characters whom she developed. You get to know the characters quite well and understand where their emotions originate. The novel is set in Paris which adds to the romantic background.I did really enjoy this book also because it was easy to read and I honestly could not put it down.

4.0 out of 5 stars Stuck with me 8 Oct. 2012
By J. H. Vaughn - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback Verified Purchase
This book is...
Verbose
Melodramatic as all hell
Somehow believable
Atrociously paced but somehow that adds to its authenticity

The characters do things to one another that made my blood boil as I read. I picked this book up about 6 months ago and still think about the emotions surrounding the novels when I see it lying innocuously on the bookshelf.

Kinda makes me want to read another of her novels, but I'd need to be in the French over-the-top state of mind that they purvey sooo very well.

Involving and evocative, and it isn't pretty in some parts.......
