Product description

Review

"The writing style is clear and precise. It has 'user-friendly' language which avoids being over-simplistic whilst still managing to accurately explain legal meanings."
 - David W Selfe, Director, School of Law, Liverpool John Moores University

"The book is very well written and an excellent overall text for the first year student or even advanced A-Level student. The book has many useful qualities such as the case examples and judgment quotes from the leading cases. I would recommend this text to a first year LL.B student without any hesitation. Overall I would rate this book 8 and a half out of 10"
- Steven Rogers, LLB Student at The University of South Wales

This book really does unlock criminal law! I have a few books on this subject, but I have to say this one is by far the best. The book is in a very straight forward and easy to understand format, with plenty of case examples. It makes assignments easy!

It's a very good text book. Lacks a little depth but I think that's the whole point. You're just supposed to read through it and know the key points on which you base further reading upon. It's very useful especially to those who are starting a course in Law like myself. It's a well structured guide. Simple to understand. And at such a great price.

Well, I read multiple text books at one go, e.g. Smith & Hogan, William Wilson etc.
After all I can sum up conclusions as follows:-

1) Smith & Hogan is bible of its kind; and
2) William Wilson easy to digest.

"Unlocking Criminal Law" combined the strength of both books. Further, its layout makes it accessible, digestible, and more importantly this book is very straight forward to the points and packed with sufficient content in width and in depth. I can use it as primary text book, jump to other books only if necessary (so far I used it consistently, seldom I need to use other text book as reference).

Thanks to the Authors Jacqueline & Tony and the publisher Routledge - This book and the series of "unlocking law" simply amazing!

Best Regards,
James Lee, Singapore

In my opinion, this is one of the best books on the market on criminal law, as it digests much of the (often unnecessary) information found in many academic text books and succinctly and lucidly explains what is most useful. For students who are looking for a textbook which quickly gets to the point, avoiding longwinded academic discussion and obfuscation, this book is the answer. Its layout and format is also very student-friendly. I would not hesitate to recommend this book.
