I bought this album on Japanese release many years ago when it was hot off the press and it has remained a favourite Woody Shaw album. All the recordings of this particular band are brilliant, but this one has a warmth and sense of joy and an evident love of the material written all over it. There is not a wasted moment on it. I have very fond memories of seeing this band at Ronnie Scotts (minus Gary Bartz) and seeing the brilliant young Mulgrew Miller for the first time. Woody Shaw was in peak form and Steve Turre was awesome. Grabbing this classic on mp3 has allowed me to take it wherever I go. I'm so happy to be re-united with this.
