"'This beautifully illustrated book [Unforgettable Journeys] includes journeys that will satisfy the adventurer in all of us. Tracking mountain gorillas in Rwanda? No problem. Shackleton's voyage to Antarctica? Piece of cake. There are practical details if you want to tackle any of the trips. For the less intrepid there are journeys closer to home - walking with Wordsworth in England and a horse-drawn wagon trip around Ireland.'" (Sunday Telegraph)
"'Inspiring, well-written and well put together.' [Unforgettable Journeys]" (Geographical)
"'This book [Unforgettable Things] does exactly what it says on the tin: it is packed with gorgeous images of places that you really, really want to visit - and makes you slightly hate the authors for having been able to do all these things ... And since more of us are eschewing beach holidays and choosing trips with a life-changing experience built in, it can almost be seen as a tick-list for the get-up-and-go crowd.'" (Nicki Symington Observer)
"'With 40 recommendations, the great photos and inspirational text of this book crystallise exactly what we all love about travel.'" (Wanderlust)

This book has a fresh feel to it. The text is a nice, easy read, thoughtful and containing off-beat nuggets of information, and the photography is excellent.
Keep 'Unforgettable Islands to Escape to Before You Die' in an accessible spot on your bookshelf. Flip through once in a while and you will almost certainly see that it lives up to its promise...and offers all the inspiration needed to actually head out there and see some of these places.
There islands covered here are not necessarily the ones you would imagine. One of the reasons is that they decided not to repeat any from previous books. So no Galapagos, Cuba, Zanzibar or others previously featured. However, this does leave you with Rapa Nui, The Seychelles, Tierra del Fuego and many others. The advice here is limited, but that's not the intention. As ever its to show you the amazing places and give you a taster for 'that holiday'. Its does that as well as ever.
I like being a bit more active on my holidays. So this is probably my least favourite in the series. However, its still up to the usual standard and provides enough for me to keep going back to. If you want to find some of the best islands in the world for your holiday then get this to get you inspired.

‘Unforgetable islands to escape to before you die’ is a well produced book in colour, not big enough to be a coffee table book, but too large to take in one’s luggage. Its dimensions are 0.8 x 7.1 x 9.5 inches and it weighs nearly two pounds. However it is a little gem for those addicted to island travel. The choice of just forty islands from the tens of thousands of islands in the world is obviously a difficult task and any traveller would agree with the choice of some the islands, but would replace others with their own favourites. The text accompanying the pictures is good but often some of the attractions on the islands are omitted. For example, Tanna Island in the Vanuatu archipelago is mentioned but not its fantastic volcano where molten lava bubbling and exploding in its crater can be observed.
The forty islands featured in ‘Unforgettable islands to escape to before you die’ are listed below:
Eleuthera, the Bahamas
Kubu Island, Botswana
Islands of Lake Tana, Ethiopia
Pico Ruivo, Madeira
Islands of Serenity, Tokyo, Japan
