About the Author

NEW YORK TIMES & USA TODAY bestselling author Violet Duke is a former professor of English Education ecstatic to be on the other side of the page now writing emotion-rich stories with fun, everyday characters and sweet, sexy match-ups. Since her debut series in 2013, over a million readers have put all four of Violet's laugh & cry contemporary romance series on bestseller lists and Top 10 charts across the major eretailers, both in the U.S. and internationally. When she isn't feeding her book-a-day addiction, Violet enjoys doing far too many things without checking the directions first (often with outrageous power tools she has no business operating), and cooking impossible-to-replicate 'special edition' dishes that laugh in the face of recipes. She lives in Hawai'i with her kids (Violet & Duke) and Mr. Violet Duke (their ringleader), with a PJs-and-rubber-slippers work dress code she takes very seriously. Before That Night Book one
This was a very emotional read, pulling you into the story and play on your heartstrings.

We meet Addison as she go for a job, so she keep looking after siblings Kylie and Tanner. I should say second job, as she has a part time one that doesn’t pay enough. Addison just needs to buy time so she can save and then on her 21st birthday, then apply for custody for her siblings. While working the late shift at diner where a lot of cops come before and shifts as it is near police station. This is where she meets Caine, and they become friendly, but as the months pass this changes into something more.
I loved this book it made me cry like a baby. I was devastated at the end even though I knew there was a second book going in.
Book 2
Every night without you

We pick up the many years later and Addison moved back to the area with a different identity, and manager of a centre for the homeless halfway house. Helping family become part a community learning to help each other. Caine is driving as he spots Addison and follows her back to the centre.
We find nothing has changed with the reason she left, but Cain and Addison decide to fight the stalker together this time. It was great to meet her siblings much older selves. This book was so heartfelt I was crying and laughing loving Caine so much for his devotion to Addison. These both books are emotional and you just get pulled into the story. If you love romance with suspense and intrigue with HEA then this is for you.

This is my first read by author Violet Duke. This book is about Addison and Caine.

Book One – Before That Night

Addison and Caine’s story started when Addison was 20 years old and ended up taking care of her brother Tanner and sister, Kylie. Addison and her younger siblings have nowhere to go when their junkie mum left them for a guy she met. Not wanting to lose her siblings to foster care Addison was forced to get herself a job as a waitress in a diner and live in a van with the kids. This is where she met Caine, one of the cops who frequent Joe’s Diner where Addison works.
Caine is a police officer, he is 29 and much older than Addison. Caine comes from a very interesting family and the banter between the brothers quite funny. He is very alpha and protective of Addison. The growing attraction between Addison and Caine can no longer be denied and everything seems to be going smoothly until a frequent customer named David gave Addison weird vibes and her inner alarm bells start ringing. With a stalker putting a spanner on Addison and Caine’s developing relationship, she has to make a choice: fight or flight? This book ends in a cliff-hanger.

Book Two – Every Night Without You

The story picks up seven years after Addison and her younger siblings disappeared from Caine’s life. Addison is now a successful businesswoman. She managed to get a new identity and keep her whereabouts a secret from her past life. Her younger brother Tanner is away studying at university and Kylie is now a teenager. Despite their hard life one thing I admired about Addison is her resolute and firm belief in keeping her family together.

Lately I've taken to discovering new authors... well, not new per-say but more so authors that I haven't yet read. A lot of these authors are on my TBR list, but there are some that somehow haven't made it on there, but they should've most certainly been somewhere at the top. Violet Duke is one of those authors. Her writing is impeccable and moving - and although I'd classify the Unfinished Night duet more of a New Adult Romance, it packs some heat and sexy grit.

I fell completely in love with Addison from the get go. I just wanted to wrap her up in my arms and shower her with affection and security, something that Caine also wants very much. For a 19 year old girl she is so bold and strong and steadfast, as a mother she had me cheering for her from the off in Before That Night and in Every Night Without You I just felt so in tune with her. She's one of those characters that you not only empathise with, but you become one with and develop a fellowship with. I'm going to be very honest here, at first I wasn't sure whether I fancied Caine as her supporting hero (Addison is the undoubted star of the show), I don't know, at first I was just being down right agist, then it was the whole I don't know whether I fancied him myself... it was a little touch and go for a bit, but after the whole Easter egg wooing thing - I was on board the Caine train and I was enjoying the ride! Here's the thing, for a nice guy, Caine has grit and depth and dirty talk game. Plus, his "gear-stick" sure sounds substantially considerable! Oh dear, here I go again...

The beautiful thing about Ms.
