I didn't realise that my DVD player couldn't play this- 'cos I'm not technically minded but I can watch it on laptop. Love this film- it's rarely if ever shown on TV though that's where I saw it years ago. I adore Dudley Moore - massive fan and I loved watching this again.

My wife remembered this film and it was just as good as she remembered it. It arrived quicker than was advised which was fantastic. Thank you.

Purchased this item after seeing it on TV years back and still found it excellent and funny (once got heads round the Region 1 not being for UK and changing DVD settings) as one of those things where we imagine how brilliant we will be and then realise we may not have thought of everything!

Have not seen it appear on UK TV since then thus often got annoyed when confusing it with "Blame It On The Bellboy" and to be bale to get a copy at all even though it is Region 1 is superb.

Highly recommend watching the equally superb original B/W Preston Sturges 1948 version AFTER watching this excellent 1984 Dudley Moore and Natasha K. remake if you enjoy it :D

This was a 1984 remake of the 1948 Preston Sturges original starring Rex Harrison. In this later version Moore plays an orchestral conductor who suspects, wrongly, that his beautiful young wife (Kinski) is being unfaithful to him and settles on a virtuoso violinist (Assante) as the third corner of the eternal triangle - also wrongly. He decides on the radical solution of gamicide (for the uninitiated, self-inflicted widowhood) The things that go wrong with his plot make for a madcap 90 minutes and showcase the comic talents of all three leading players brilliantly.

This is a difficult film to obtain in PAL/Region 2, so the obvious solution is to get it in NTSC/Region 1 and make sure your DVD player is region free. This isn't the place to discuss the merits and drawbacks of DVD region coding, suffice it to say there are ways round it. My only real problem with this DVD is an inherent issue of the NTSC system, poorer image quality and colour rendition than we are accustomed to in Europe.

Region and TV standard aside, this is a real fun film. The DVD comes with the original theatrical trailer and plenty of language and subtitle options. Buy it and be prepared to laugh till you cry!
