Paula Hall has tackled the oft dismissed issue of sexual addiction by packing this text with clear insight, compassion and solid clinical knowledge. It is a must have for anyone wishing to truly understand the diagnosis, and treatment of sexual addiction. - Robert Weiss LCSW, CSAT-S, Founding Director of the Sexual Recovery Institute and Author of Cruise Control
This book is a competent and intelligent exposition of the subject of sexual addiction, suitable for general readers and essential for clinicians. Written from a British perspective , it will be of considerable interest to a wider reading public. Paula Hall is a fresh voice with stimulating insights. - Dr Thaddeus Birchard, Clinical Director, The Marylebone Centre
"This book is important as a first publication from a UK perspective. Its strength is in its structure and organisation and in the journalistic, not academic, language; these make the book accessible to both the professional and the layman. Her language is intelligent, the bibliography is wide-ranging, and the list of resources is an important appendix." - Sandra Buchanan, Addiction Recovery Foundation (May/June 2013)
"A book to quell the skeptics and provide education, assessment tools, treatment options, and most importantly, hope, for both health-care providers and individuals struggling with a sex addiction." - Elsie Hall, Womens Mental Health

Particularly helpful is the way that the author separates the 'addiction' from 'sex' and helps us to understand that 'sex addiction' is not about bad morals, but that people often confuse the 'sex' bit as being about high sex-drive or an inability to control lust. Instead, she makes clear that sex is just like any other addictive possiblity, whether alcohol, tobacco, drugs... and that the addiction needs to be dealt with at several different levels.
I think any therapist will find this a useful book to have read and to keep on their bookshelf: more and more clients are presenting with issues of sex addiction, and it behoves us all to stay abreast of lastest thinking on the subject.
