Undercover Angel is a 1999 film by writer/director Bryan Michael Stoller. A romantic comedy starring Yasmine Bleeth and Dean Winters.

Harrison (Dean Winters) is a struggling freelance writer who becomes the unwilling babysitter of a precocious little 6-year-old girl, Jenny (Emily Mae Young), when her mother, Melissa ((Lorraine Ansell) one of Harrison's former girlfriends whom he hasn't seen in some time) asks him to babysit because Melissa needs to be out of town for several weeks.

Harrison is originally unenthusiastic about the arrangement, but soon he develops a tenderness for Jenny. Little Jenny soon realises that Harrison needs a steady girlfriend and plays matchmaker for Harrison and Holly (Yasmine Bleeth), a beautiful single woman who frequently visits the same coffee shop as Harrison and Jenny.

Harrison later writes stories for Jenny about Mr. Dodo - her favorite stuffed animal. Jenny secretly gets Holly to transcribe the books, and they submit them to his publisher. Eventually, Harrison accidently discovers that he is Jenny's father. Finally, near the end, Harrison tries to get custody of Jenny because of Jenny's uncaring mother.

Most of this film was shot on location in Ottawa, Canada. Some of the locations were the Canal Ritz Restaurant, Thunderbird Mini-golf and Go-Karts, The Supreme Court of Canada, and the Chapters location at the Pinecrest Shopping Centre.

Being a romantic comedy this is a movie the whole family can enjoy. Generally the movie centers around the mischievious antics of a 6-year-old girl (Emily Mae Young) who steals the show with her natural wit and cuteness. The remaining actors also provide good supporting roles - giving the movie a more poignant and romantic feel. The film also contains short scenes featuring James Earl Jones as a presiding Judge and Casey Kasem as Himself.

Emily Mae Young portrays an awesome 7 year old with sass and charm. She helps the other actors make an okay film.
It's a story of love, friendship and parenthood - a feel good film.
The rest of the film is a little cliche and corny but watchable.
No violence, swearing or sexual references or nudity (a rare sight for films this day and age!)

This is a very heart-warming and sweet movie. Sweet being a strange word to use to describe a movie but that was how this movie made me feel after watching it. I have since found myself re-watching it. The little girl was really an undercover angel in disguise, because in her little sweet way, she inspired all around her;- her struggling crime writer father, the girl next door he was trying to date while at the same time organising their life and helping them get together. What I don't understand was why her mum never saw that or did not allow herself to be inspired by her to become the kind of mum this little girl needed. The storyline is very original and realistic. I liked the fact that the mother in the end understood what her little girl needed and did the right thing by her.
This is a great movie for all the family. It is not only heart-warming, it is inspiring on a lot of levels. I recommend.
