5.0 out of 5 stars Bravo! 11 Oct. 2003
By Sean Samuels - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
Christophe Beck's score for Under the Tuscan Sun is a top-notch piece of work. Buy it and you will not be disappointed. This composer is both delicate and powerfully masterful in his work to give life & voice to any movie's unseen character....the music.
He denotes both the charm, melancholy and sweetness of life in tracks like #28, "My Wish"...innocence is evoked in track #22s "Baby Alessandra". Mr. Beck captures the feeling of what it is to be daring and nervous and full of resolve in tracks #15 & #24, "Roma" & "White Dress". To me, the flavour of Italian adventure and about-to-be-discovered wonder is skillfully delivered in the CD's opening track "Follow The Flower" as well as in track # 16, "Marcello, Of Course".
Mr. Beck is evocative of the likes of C. Thomas Newman, Brian Tyler, & Hans Zimmer; not only in mood and color—if you will—yet in that his abilities to score music really tap into the emotional resonances of a film. A keen insight that makes the themes and melodies, in both film and score, conjoin into something simply and wonderfully vibrant! I could go on and on, yet suffice it to say that I look forward with anticipation to see what Mr. Beck will craft in the future. Kudos to Mr. Beck for making an unforgettable and refreshing work!

5.0 out of 5 stars I love the music 4 Sept. 2005

How much I respect the talent of composers can't be expressed in words...you simply have to listen to it. Cristophe Beck is a genius...the music in Under the Tuscan Sun is triumphant, uplifting, wonderful, and simply marvelous. The cello, and violins are just played so beautifully. The entire soundtrack provokes so many emotions inside. It is funny because as much as I absolutely love classic rock, I have a much greater level of appreciation and awe when it comes to musical scores. I believe composers to be one of the most talented people. To come up with music for various scenes of a movie out of scratch, is remarkable if done like Howard Newton Shore, or Thomas Newman and of course Christophe Beck.

I love watching this movie over and over and realized I really enjoyed the sound track just as much. Now I keep replaying this CD too! The music is enchanting and soothing. It is great for morning coffee and for long drives and days spent indoors. It is mostly instrumentals and quite lovely.

A charming DVD and charming CD. I loved the movie (despite its "chick flick" status) and that made me want the music, which I listened to in my car so much it drove my boys mad. But pleasantly mad. Very upbeat.
