Double bill of action thrillers starring Steven Seagal as ex-Navy SEAL-turned-cook Casey Ryback. In 'Under Siege' (1992) Ryback has to prevent a group of military mercenaries led by ex-CIA operative Bill Strannix and his Executive Officer Commander Krill (Tommy Lee Jones and Gary Busey) from hijacking the battleship USS Missouri and stealing its store of nuclear weapons. 'Under Siege 2 - Dark Territory' (1995) sees the newly-retired Ryback attempting to prevent a team of terrorists on a hijacked passenger train from using a weapons satellite to destroy Washington D.C..

in the second he meets his now teenage niece and as they set off on vacation the train is attacked and taken over, this time its only him ,the baggage boy to stop them and to get his niece back safely.a great set of action films, recommend them
Under Siege, a late entry into the action genre and starring Steven Segal, ticks all the boxes and a thoroughly entertaining action flick results. It has absolutely everything - a laconic mysterious Segal is the ships cook, but has a very different background (and a healthy tension with his superiors) that makes him the ideal person to start sorting things out when a somewhat demented Tommy Lee Jones and Gary Busey take over his ship. There are slimey CIA agents, big explosions, arguments with the top brass, a damsel in distress, evil men in black shirts, a threat to world peace and a ticking clock before everyone on the ship dies. Absolutely every staple of the action genre is here as Segal does what he has to do to beat the bad guys in the most visceral and explosive manner. And it works perfectly - a thoroughly entertaining film full of big fights, silly humour and large explosions has resulted and it is a great way to spend an evening with a beer and a pizza. I just love it, it is one of the best of the silly action film genre. 5 stars.
A sequel to Under Siege was inevitable. Though it never quite lives up to the original, Dark Territory does however deliver all that is required of it as Steven Segal sets about kicking some terrorist backside, this time after the train he and his niece are travelling on is hijacked by the usual mercenaries with a superweapon with which to hold the world to ransom scenario. Segal kicks, hits, shoots and stabs his way through a lot of underlings before the big fight with the chief bad guy in a satisfyingly entertaining adventure with lots of stunts, fights, explosions and humour. A decent action flick all round 4 stars.
Both films were edited in the UK - UNDER SIEGE 1 to obtain a 15 Certificate was merely cut by a few seconds, but UNDER SIEGE 2 was practically BUTCHERED by 2 minutes - which is quite a lot.
These cuts don't make the films unwatchable, as the BBFC does a pretty good job, BUT this was released in 2007, my point being, why didn't Warner resubmit the films to the BBFC. UNDER SIEGE could have been released UNCUT with an 18 instead of a 15 - since it'll be sold along with part 2 - and under the current BBFC guidelines (and seeing what passes the BBFC UNCUT nowadays) UNDER SIEGE 2 would have all previous cuts waived, without a doubt.
If you - like me - need to have your films uncut, I recommend buying the French or Dutch prints OR the Australian prints if you want an English language DVD cover (these two films are encoded region 4 AND 2 in Australia).
Not that the lack of these break the movie, but if you have seen the uncut version, you'll miss them.
To name some examples, warning, they include some spoilers!!
They cut the part with the hot needle nearing Captain Gilder's eye, where Ryback breaks a guys arm, and when Dane's fingers are cut off at the end.
