I enjoyed the first book (days 1 - 7) and decided I might as well read this one as well. At first I did think it was a bit more of the same, find a big herd, have a mega battle then all home safe. This is not the case.
This book has made me laugh out loud and I actually found myself with tears in my eyes, which rarely happens when I read a book! During one particular part I actually was sitting on the edge of my seat and feeling exhausted for them.
I believe these are self published books and I hadn't heard of the author before but I think they are fantastic. A great picture is painted in all the scenes and I can see it unfolding like a film. A couple of times I had to go back as I'd read to fast and missed something and last night I was determined to finish and had got to about 80% complete on kindle when I turned the light out. I felt really grumpy about actually doing something today as it meant delaying finishing the book.
Some typos can be found but nothing that ruins the enjoyment.
Now my dilemma is, do I download the rest of the books (a few days to go until payday) or do I wait to see if they do a compilation book? Although, if they do a compilation of the next 7 days I don't have holidays again until June!
RR has a gift. His characterisation and attention to detail draw you in. Lovingly crafted characters that are more reflective of modern society than of any other book I have read. Modern day grammatical errors show an unrefined style but the writings rawness makes them forgivable.
His characters are rough and believable and the landscape allows for new characters to be introduced with flaws that crumble before an ever more dangerous foe.
Onto the 3rd week!
Good story nevertheless, only half way through and I will stick with it.
Doesn't have me on the edge of my seat as it did in the early days though.
Ive lost count of the books ive read, but, certain books and authors stand out... The Stand.. Autumn series... Mark Tufo... And now RR Haywood and the Undead series... Brilliant characters... Great zombies.. Fast paced.. Gory.. Funny...
Literally cant put these books down!
I am walking to the shops reading!
Would highly recommend this series of books.
