However at the opening of his clothing store a few weeks before the fashion show his attention is taken by a young woman who appears to be copying his designs. Heather Westfield is rather more curvy than the models at the store and her life hasn't worked out as she hoped when young but she still feels she can design dresses that people like her can actually wear. When she finds herself talking to the strange French man, and being offered a job, it all sounds wonderful. Unfortunately a crazed old man tries to attack and kill the Frenchman and Heather wades in to help, which now means that the assailant, who the French man names Lui, knows about her and her life is in danger.
The Frenchman introduces himself as Jean-Luc Echarpe and tells Heather that she and her household will now need to be protected. As Heather gets to know the various other people around Jean-Luc, including Emma and Angus from the previous book, she finds that things don't add up. How old is he?Read more ›
The kind of vampire in this story is very likable, but most of all I loved the heroine, Heather. She's not your typical skinny, perky, beauty that seems to inhabit most of the romance I've come across in all genres of stories. Heather is a generous size 12 with a four year old daughter.
The romance between Heather and Jean-Luc moves at a nice pace and they aren't jumping into bed after the first smouldering hot look!
I think I will have to read more of these books.
Poor vampire, he has to reinvent himself once again because the humans are beginning to notice that the famous haute couture fashion designer never ages. So he thinks to hide away in a basement in a small Texas town. More fool, he!
Nice single mom schoolteacher with a manure-for-brains ex-husband, and a gun-toting live-in senior who babysits for her, just wants to be left alone and wishes that she could afford to make elegant clothing at reasonable prices for REAL women.
At first he thinks that her drawings of his designer line means that she is a spy from another fashion house, but soon realizes that she has loads of talent, no money, and her only threat to him is that he comes to care too much for her.
And then there are the villains. And the crazy situations. And some scary stuff.
Kerrelyn Sparks has the most devious, fun imagination!
