The friendships, love, heartbreak and all round toghetherness.
Even though you can predict what's coming the story itself is truly gripping from beginning to end. So many years shed, then came joy.
This is a standalone romance that transcends stereotypes and gender, a story about three individuals who met when they were in their early teens, forged a powerful bond and loved each other unconditionally.
When Delilah met Cole and Xander, never did she realise that it is the start of a beautiful and unusual relationship. Delilah is recovering from cancer and has learned to cope with it but being ill most of the time she was homeschooled. Her tough character even at such a young age and how she deals with her condition is a testament to her spirit, she is a beautiful person inside and out.
Cole was only ten when he lost his family and has to live in a foster home. Before his mother died, the promise he made to her kept him going and focused but is also the thing that keeps him from finding true happiness. Growing up with Xander and Delilah, they became his family and his support.
Xander’s sad childhood made him a strong person. He completes the trio’s unique friendship that developed into something more special. But his promising future in basketball might also be the reason that breaks the bond between them.
Told from different points of view, this moving love story not only deals with relationships and strong family dynamics but also tells us about coping with loss and hope. To some people, Cole, Delilah and Xander’s relationship might be unconventional but this author’s narrative style gives us a fascinating romantic saga that is very well written. Reading about three strong, dynamic characters in a special relationship might not be a puritan’s idea of a love story but the author tells their story in a way that makes you overlook the traditional. I have read this author’s previous works and although this book is not her usual genre, she definitely nailed it. This extraordinary romance with unforgettable protagonists and a formidable antagonist makes this one of my top reads this year. Be warned though: Xander, Delilah and Cole’s story will crack, splinter and shatter your heart into pieces and will make you cry. You’ll need a blanket to soak up the tears because a box of tissues isn’t enough; best to read this with wine and chocolates. I highly recommend this book!
This book had such a strong backstory that you couldn't help but be sucked into the world that was shared by Cole, Xander, and Delilah. Through most of the book, I was full of full on cry out loud sobs, but nothing could stop me from reading it, I just knew I had to have tissues at the ready at all times.
All three had their own problems when they met in the dilapidated hay barn owned by Delilah's parents for the first time they became firm friends. They soon spent every waking hour together.
they soon became more than just friends, they became lovers learning from each other.
The three best friends meet obstacles to their friendship and there are times when you wonder if they can find their way back from them.
They made each other promises but could they keep them. Cole had also made a promise to his mother, but could he keep that promise as well and still stay friends. Could or should the promises of children be kept?
It has been a while since i have read a book that has managed to bring me to tears as much as this book did. I am sitting here trying to put into words how fantaatic a book this is but nothing i write gives it justice.
Nikki has written a beautiful love story between three best friends who have supported each other through all the ups and downs life has thrown them and its an emotional rollercoaster ride as we follow them on their journey. 🌠 wish upon a shooting star 🌠
This book literally stole my heart it makes you open your eyes to what the people around us actually see, to what we want them to see.
You see love isn’t always pretty,
It isn’t always easy & it certainly isn’t plain sailing. Sometimes there’s so many bumps in the road that everyone goes in a different directions, there’s always a way to fight your way back!!
But when all else fails LOVE is what makes us push the barriers and make things happen the way they should.
This read shows us how quickly life can change and you have to grab life by the balls, it’s also made me cry & smile so much and to truly believe that,
love conquers all!!!
5 beautiful 🌟
