Science vs. Religion. What are you willing to believe?
'The Unbelievers' follows renowned scientists Richard Dawkins & Lawrence Krauss across the globe as they speak publicly about the importance of science and reason in the modern world - encouraging others to cast off religious and politically motivated approaches toward important current issues.
Presented in the style of rock n roll tour films, The Unbelievers joins Dawkins and Krauss as they speak to sold-out stadiums and halls across three continents while contending with fans and critics along with religious extremists bent on stifling their pro-science/pro-reason message.
Months of international travel culminate at the 2012 Rally For Reason on the US Capitol lawn in Washington, D.C. Billed as the largest gathering of atheists, secularists, freethinkers and sceptics in world-history, Dawkins and Krauss bear witness to the impact of their message as over 30,000 adoring fans and protestors greet them with enthusiasm.
Dawkins and Krauss have begun an important conversation about some of the most challenging questions humans have ever faced. The Unbelievers seeks to encourage others to continue that conversation.

Take your religion, turn it upside down and shake it, hard. See what comes out and compare it with the tried, tested and evidenced science of physics. Question the teachings, question why you feel the way you do about your religious faith. Don't be afraid to express your doubts and scepticism about unscientific faith.
The DVD is of itself, nothing special. If you haven't heard of Dawkins or Krauss, no matter. It's just a road trip documentary of two atheists, but it's the message that's the important thing here.
If you have read any of their books, or seen Dawkins' other DVDs, this documentary doesn't really bring anything new to the table.
I've read - and re-read - many of Dawkins' books, but confess Lawrence Krauss is new to me. So in a way, this DVD is a good platform for both of these men to flog a few more books.
The best thing on this DVD are the interviews with well known people on matters spiritual - Ricky Gervais comes across particularly well, and his contribution is worth the cost of the DVD alone, which is why I've given it four stars and not the (more deserved) three.
I feel that this DVD comes as a much needed reassurance to people who are worried about 'coming out' about their atheism. World religions have been devolved to control and manipulate populations. Atheists, for centuries, have been severely punished for daring to speak out, and science was choked off by religious dogma for far too long.
It's high time all that changed.
Dawkins and Krauss want you to shake off those chains, tear down those walls and take a good look at the reasoned and evidenced Science behind the Cosmos and evolution of life on our planet.
If you decide not to buy this DVD, but are interested in the arguments, then get a copy of Dawkins' "The God Delusion" - you might just find it's everything you've always felt, but never had the words to say.
If anything this seems to portray Atheism as some sort of movement which requires everyone to share their same beliefs.
In this respect this belief system could be viewed as equally detrimental to society as the the religious protesters outside the Atheism convention in the film who are demanding that everyone believes as they do.
The film shows a lot of shouting and shooting down of any challenges to the two leads but doesn't show any actual debate or reasoning.
A very bias and uninformative film with little entertainment value.
Then it ends at the "Rally for reason" held in Washington DC. So if you like such events then, you might like the ending. By the time the movie reached that far though, I was tired with the visuals. The movie has a few movements were LK and RD have conversations which hold such promise then it is abruptly punctuated with another montage. There is no one challenging them, they just seems to glide through the whole thing effortlessly.
The best part about the DVD was the deleted scenes. There is a lot more conversation, discussion and thankfully no montages and/or music. I hope they can re-release the movie with just that, all the talk and no other rubbish.
