This kit appears to contain mercury, if so it would be illegal to import or sell in the EU. EU Directives prohibit the sale or import of electronic equipment containing mercury after 1 July 2006.

5.0 out of 5 stars but consider that you're getting a pretty decent grab bag of gizmos 14 Nov. 2014

I find it curious that this hasn't gotten any reviews yet. The kit may seem pricey, but consider that you're getting a pretty decent grab bag of gizmos, already assembled with the supporting circuitry, for under 2 bucks each. Plus, the plastic case with dividers is really handy.

To me, it is well worth the price to have these available without having to breadboard or solder every single capacitor and supporting component.

Note that this may be a little daunting for a complete beginner. Someone who isn't yet familiar with circuits or the intended use for these parts may need to do a bit of research. However, having these pre-assembled makes it easier to put together projects, and get a feeling for how some of these pieces interact with each other.

The documentation available for download is basically quick & dirty, but does include basic specifications. To be sure, I always test with a multimeter before powering up a circuit. However, any novice with the aptitude to "learn it on the streets" would benefit from this.

I think this is a pretty good addition to any hobbyist's starter kit.

I purchase this kit after a lot of research. I also purchased a very well documented more expensive kit from another vendor at the same time. This kit has no documentation but I didn't feel like I needed it because I am familiar with electronics and have the documentation in the other kit. If you are comfortable researching each module (start at http://arduino.cc) then you will be fine with this kit. I would not suggest this kit for a beginner.

The packaging was good. It came in a very small but well packaged box. All the components in the picture were there. The Arduino Mega is well manufactured with clean soldering and crisp silk screening. I have only used and tested a few of the components so far but they have all worked fine. I will update this post after I have tested more of the components.

I would purchase this kit again.

5.0 out of 5 stars This kit includes an UNO R3 clone (always nice to have an extra) AND a v 14 Nov. 2014

As one of the other reviewers pointed out, this kit is may be of more use after you get through a "total n00b tutorial" step-by-step type of kit, and you're starting to get your own ideas on how to design some circuits. So, if you plan on doing a lot more than blinking an LED and pushing a button to activate a buzzer, this is one kit worth buying.

This kit includes an UNO R3 clone (always nice to have an extra) AND a v.5 Protoshield clone, both of which are good quality. The UNO clone in the kit I received had a defect, and Sintron replaced it immediately. Their customer service via email was great.

The universal remote and IR sensor is nice to have, as well. I also recommend, if it's in your budget and you think you'd wind up using most of the parts, buying their Ultimate 37 in 1 Sensor Modules Kit:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00DU2IQ10/

The price of both kits is about the same as a new textbook, and well worth the money for the intermediate novice. There is a ton of instructable -slash- tutorial information online, and on YouTube as well... so if you're a proficient learn-it-yourselfer, you'll wind up with plenty of different ways to terrorize your roommate's cat.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Arduino starter kit or add-on kit to your existing Arduino collection 31 Oct. 2013
By Rover100 - Published on Amazon.com

Purchased this kit right after I order the Arduino starter kit so I would have additional components, and some add-ons that the official started kit didn't contain. The added bonus of having a second Arduino UNO was well worth the cost, since buying all the components individually would have been significantly higher. Well packaged, lots of things you can use for a wide variety of projects or setups, well worth the price.
5.0 out of 5 stars Great kit for the price! 18 Dec. 2013

I've just completed testing all the items and everything advertised was received in working order. That said, they don't advertise any documentation, nor do they include any. If you're new to electronics in general, this can be daunting, but not a deal breaker. If you're a friend of Google, you can search for numbers printed on the circuit boards, or watch enough YouTube Arduino tutorials and you'll start to recognize the pieces you have in you kit. I was not only able to find info on the parts, but code and video tutorials on them as well.
