Peter and Gordon's major British hits were A world without love (number one), Nobody I know, To know you is to love you and True love ways. Their minor British hits are here too, these being Baby I'm yours (a cover of Barbara Lewis' American hit), Woman and Lady Godiva. One of their minor American hits, There's no living without your loving, was a British hit for Manfred Mann.
There are plenty of covers here too - these include Lucille (Little Richard), Leave my woman alone (Ray Charles), Crying in the rain (Everly brothers), Somewhere (from West side story), Homeward bound (Simon and Garfunkel), Michelle (Beatles), 500 miles, Tell me how, Green leaves of summer, When I fall in love and Freight train. They are from a variety of sources, yet they are all made to fit Peter and Gordon's easy going style, which contrasts nicely with a lot of the other (more generally upbeat) pop music of the time.
This is a wonderful, relaxing collection, which contrasts nicely with a lot of the other pop music of the time, which was generally more upbeat

I am not a big fan of peter & Gordon but some of their songs are great. I bought this CD primarily to get 'Woman'. This was the only Peter & Gordon single I ever bought and I played it regularly for ages in the 60s. I have sought it on mixed compilations to no avail and I am really glad I bought this CD. There is something about the melody that intrigues me so although I have only just found out, I am not surprised, it was written by Paul MacCartney.

Peter and Gordon were incredibly popular for a few years in the 1960s and this compilation is a great collection of some of their finest recordings.
By 1963 Peter (Asher) and Gordon (Waller) were working as a duo, and the following year 1964 gave them their first break when a record producer from EMI saw them perform in London. They got a recording contract after doing a test recording of the folk favourite "five hundred miles". A version of this track is included in this compilation.
Peter Asher's sister, actress Jane Asher dated, Paul McCartney, (The Beatles). Paul gave the duo a song he had written called "A world without love". (track one)
Peter and Gordon recorded this song. It is a great song and this is a unique single.
It was credited to Lennon/McCartney and is almost a Beatles song except that it was recorded and made famous by Peter and Gordon. It went to number one in the UK singles chart the same year. It took over the number one spot from "Cant buy me love" by the Beatles. "A world of our own" went on to top the US chart as well.

Paul McCartney gave the duo another song that was used as the follow up to "A world of our own". This new song was "Nobody I know" (track four). This went as high as number 10 in the UK charts.
The success continued as Paul McCartney gave the duo their third song. This was the song "I don't want to see you again". (sadly this is not included in this compilation) This failed the UK top 50 but was a hit in the US.
Peter and Gordon didn't give up, and recorded a new song this time written by Del Shannon. "I go to pieces" (track 13) This also failed the UK charts but was another US number nine hit.

I don't know who selected the songs for this very Brittish compilation. All the UK hits are here but Peter and Gordon had five more American hits that deserve inclusion (I Don't Want To See You Again, nº 16; Don't Pity Me, nº 83; Knight In Rusty Armour, nº 15; Sunday For Tea, nº 31; and their last entry The Jokers, nº 97, from the film of the same name), all of them far better than the versions from outside material included here.

The sound quality otherwise is very good.

This CD arrived in good time and in good condition. They didn't have many hits, but they are classic 60s.

I like all the songs on this CD. They are the original tracks, so it is great to play this CD right the way through. I would have liked them to have added one more track, "Sunday For Tea" which would have this collection complete.

It was okay but the songs on it were not the ones I wanted to hear so I was disappointed. I isn't the fault of the peple who advertised it I just didn't know the Peter & Gordon songs well enough.
