I own several books by Nicholas Lodge, including The International School of Sugarcraft, Book 1, 2 and 3. I saw this book on Amazon and made an instant decision not to order it because, I have more books than time to read them!!!!

Anyway, I still had to see this book because, ideas can never be too much. I made a reservation from at my library for them to borrow the book from another library.
Which I had to pay a small fee, it is still a lot cheaper that purchasing yet another book.

To my amazement(apart from the cover and title)this book is an identical copy of The International School of Sugarcraft Book 2.(By Nicholas Lodge).
As the previous review said: the styles are old fashion, she is totally correct, my book 2, I had it approx: 7 - 9 years ago, it is shocking to know that someone out there is trying to deceive the public.

Finally:
A book published 2011 with a new title, one would not expect the content to be identical to a book that published many years ago.......SHOCKING........

I am a beginner with Sugarcraft and this book did answer a lot of questions, although not all of them. It is good to have all the basic lessons and beyond, but the cake designs are very old fashioned. Glad I bought it but it is only part of your library.

I received this book for Mother's Day - it went onto my wishlist after I caught a quick glimpse of it in a bookshop and thought it would be a good book to have.

On closer inspection, this book should have probably been called "Absolutely Everything You Could Possibly Need To Know About Decorating Cakes". It's not just about Sugarcraft, but has information and recipes for all kinds of icing, sugarpaste, flower paste, etc. There are plenty of photographs illustrating the instructions.

Fantastic book!

Borrowed this book from my local library and whilst most of the stuff in it would be good to make, unfortunatly the directions for some of the harder projects are next to impossible to follow because of how theyre written, they also dont mention what type of food colouring (paste, gel, liquid) you should use for each individual project - so you have to guess. references to page numbers are also incorrrect in places- they also show at least one plaque and only refer you to a page that would tell you how to make part of the flower spray for this plaque but not all of it- so youd have to guess how to make it- which would be impossible for a beginner.

Overall not a good book- some lovely figures/plaques etc but directions are so vague its next to impossible to follow in places. if it was written better itd be an amazing book, but sadly the person who wrote this clearly didnt think before they wrote it all down.

Id recommend borrowing this from a library before buying it.. you ll probably only be disappointed otherwise.

i deceided i wanted to get a book on sugar craft , i went to the library and took out a few books to look at first. this book was one of them. all though it says sugar craft its soo much more than that . i brought it straight away after borrowing it as i knew it was a good buy. it basically has anything and everything you might want to try . from basic cake board, to icing , to ribbon decoration , modelling , to tie-ing ribbons and lace and flowers and so on. they look clear instructions and even though i havent tried, i would recommend this book as an all rounder. i am a complete beginner and thought it was an amazing looking book . i looked around for the best price and amazon was the cheapest . dont be fooled by the dated look of it as it is 10/10 from me .

The book was not for myself but for a friend of mine who is a Sugarcraft enthusiast - she received it with great pleasure and is using it constantly.

Incidentally, the book arrived here in record time in pristine condition.
