Ultimate Force is just a great series. The boxset contains the first three series on a total of six disks. I have to admit the only reason I started watching the series when it first started was because Ross Kemp was in it and he is brilliant in this role. The show is action-packed, great stories and is full of great characters. The first series contains 6 episodes and each one is phenomenal. The second series also contains 6 episodes however, I think they wasted the second episode. The whole thing revolved around them being in court for the incidents in the first episode. The other episodes are great though. The third series is the weakest so far. The problem with the third series is that most of the characters from series 1/2 aren't even in it. Henno and Louie appear. The other three members of the team are killed in the first few minutes of series 3 and they're not even the real actors as you couldn't see their faces. Caroline, the communication officer from Series 1/2 has also disappeared. Apparently, the actors were all unavailable at the time to shoot series 3 so all new characters were created.
The third series contains 4 episodes this time but each one is an hour long. Episodes 1, 2, and 4 are okay. Not as good as other episodes I've seen. The third episode though is great. You get used to the new characters after a while. There's some special features on each set. Featurettes that go behind the scenes and talk to the cast and crew. I bought this set from Amazon when it was only £25 which I thought was a pretty good deal. The fourth series I hear starts in May on ITV so I will be looking forward to that.

Women! Buy this totally un-politically correct, action packed series for your blokes and enjoy hours of free time to do what ever you want while he slavishly watches each testosterone fuelled episode unfold.

This is escapism at its most blatant and to be fair to the makers they make absolutely no claims other than this. It also helps that this is British action drama at its best - which is often the best in world. The set piece action is better than most Bond films and done on a budget which is less than a day's catering on most Hollywood block busters. It shows what can be achieved with typical British inventiveness if the money is tight.

Although the acting may be hammy, the action never is and I think this is what suspends our belief and critical faculties. The cast is stronger in the first two series and I feel the whole shine of the show tails off by the third. Having said that, my order is already in for the 4th series DVD.

There are thought provoking moments. If you want to look for a meaning, ask yourself whether we are right to have a regiment whose sole purpose is to deliver lethal force? You'll have to make your own mind up on that one but fortunately you'll be distracted enough by the action to avoid too much introspection.

The whole package is very nicely presented - with real booklets containing interesting production notes of a reasonable length -plus documentaries and interviews on the DVDs.

All round, if this is your cuppa then pay up and enjoy drinking deep.

as a big fan of ross kemp i had to buy this set!

i enjoyed every single episode, although i do think it was sad the way they just deleted 3 main characters within the first few minutes of the 3rd series! also caroline was just gone without even seeing her in series 3!

still im easily pleased, as long as ross kemp is in it for the long haul i will keep on watching!!!

worth the money definitely

The first two series are great, a hard edge, then the orginal staff moved on and it want the way of MI2, The hard edge of the sas becames James bond. But there are still lines like I buryed friends of mine and had to put bricks in the coffin as there was not enough of him to weigh it down. The SAS are tough and need to be and some of the storys carry this forward.

So I live in the US and have had to download this show because it isn't available here. Well with only watching the first season, I have to buy the rest of this series! Top notch acting, effects and a real military feel to the show. Kemp plays his Henno like an SAS Vick Mackey, freak'n awesome!
I'll be on the lookout for more shows like this coming out of the UK.
Cheers mates!
