English summary: Terms such as 'media convergence' and 'cross-media' describe procedures that are now not only on everybody's lips but have long since found their way into everyday culture. A shift in media culture of this nature is always initiated by technological progress. Printing, film and the Internet are for example inventions that have greatly influenced their own and future periods. Bernd Schuler uses the example of the Ullstein Verlag in order to examine how the advent of film had an impact on the long-established medium of the book. Given that until now Ullstein's own film production company Uco has rarely been the subject of academic research, Schuler aims to close this gap by analyzing previously undiscovered sources as well as contemporary newspapers and magazines. With his portrayal of Uco's activities, he also makes an important contribution to German film history. Als der noch junge Film in den Zwanziger Jahren immer mehr Zuschauer fand, bot der ursprunglich nur auf Zeitungen spezialisierte Verlag die Fortsetzungstexte seines auflagenstarksten Wochenblatts sowohl als Buch als auch als Film an. Um die Kontrolle uber alle Produktionsschritte zu behalten und rechtliche Problemen zu vermeiden, wurde ausserdem die eigene Filmproduktionsfirma Uco gegrundet, die die Adaption der Texte im Sinne Ullsteins garantierte.
