All it takes is the swipe of a finger. We connect with friends. We buy the latest gadgets and gear. We find out what’s happening in the world. But with that same simple swipe, we cast an increasingly expansive shadow. With each connection, we leave a digital trail that tracks our every move and milestone, our every like and dislike. And it’s not just people. Today, all major cities are networked. Urban infrastructures are monitored and controlled by complex operating systems.
Welcome to Chicago
In Watch_Dogs, this system is called the Central Operating System (CTOS) – and it controls almost every piece of the city’s technology and holds key information on all of the city’s residents.
You play as Aiden Pearce, a brilliant hacker and former thug, whose criminal past led to a violent family tragedy. Now on the hunt for those who hurt your family, you'll be able to monitor and hack all who surround you by manipulating everything connected to the city’s network. Access omnipresent security cameras, download personal information to locate a target, control traffic lights and public transportation to stop the enemy… and more.
Hack the city
Watch_Dogs takes place in a fully simulated living city where, using your smartphone, you have real-time control over the city’s infrastructure. Trap your enemy in a 30-car pileup by manipulating the traffic lights. Stop a train, and then board it to evade the authorities. Narrowly escape capture by quickly raising a drawbridge. Anything connected to the city’s CTOS can become your weapon.
Living in inner city Chicago where violence is best answered by violence, you have the skills to take the fight to the streets. Take down enemies by delivering devastating blows with your baton, or experience a shoot-out like never before with a physics simulation that rivals anything in the shooter category. Use a combination of shooting and hacking to gain advantage in any given situation. The streets are designed for you to create your own plan of attack.

EDIT- This game does struggle with AMD cards as it is not fully optimised for AMD cards, however great story link which overweighs all the negatives. AMD will release new drivers soon and hopefully get that "25%" extra performance. This game is definitely fun and I would highly recommend buying it.
So graphic problems aside the game play itself is fun. Maybe not the best storyline ever or the best side missions but still fun. The hacking is great when your running about the city just causing mayhem (stealing money, causing piles ups, getting information etc) but also useful in missions if your trying to stop the cops chasing you. I find the police chases great and the hacking element just adds to the fun (feels great when you manage to make a cop car crash into some bollards). There are other side activites too which are great but don't really fit in with the serious story line (Ie controlling a giant robotic spider or shooting holographic space aliens) however they are great fun to play. You also have the option to go in all guns blazing into missions or try a stealth approach using hacking or a mixture of both. The driving takes some getting used to (cars tend to slide like there on ice round corners). Not sure if its meant to be different to most other driving games or they just buggered that part up :). I also use a xbox controller and would imagine it wouldn't be easy to drive with the keyboard and mouse (game seems desgined with contoller in mind)
Theres plenty to do and as long as your not expecting the best game ever you wont be disappointed (although maybe wait until Ubisoft optomise the game (should be soon) and/or price drops a bit.
As is reported in most of the game-press over the last day or so this game is dreadful on the PC. For most people it just doesn't work. It's crashed many times. It has frozen my PC many times (where I had to restart my machine). And I'm talking about in the 'loading screen' !
I got into the game a couple of times for a few minutes then crash.
Until they fix it I'd stay well clear. Keep up with game sites as to when they fix things...
I got it for my son on the XBox One - works fine. He likes it - looks to me a bit like GTA with the hacker thing added but obviously I've not played the game longer than 5 minutes for the reasons stated above :(
One-button hacking might be overly simplistic, but it does give you abilities that make playing through Aiden’s story feel powerful and fun. Doing side missions and multiplayer as you make your way through the dark and lengthy story makes it feel like a huge adventure, and stealth options let you play smart if you prefer. Car chases aside, Watch Dogs is fundamentally very well made, and has more than enough unique ideas to make it a great and memorable open-world action game.
