I hated it over the first few days, but it was too expensive to just throw away so I kept at it. I loved it by the end of the week.
Protein is slow to digest, so it keeps you full for a while. I'd be hungry an hour and a half after cereal, but I didn't start feeling hungry until 3 hours later and after a long workout. The porridge has a good dose of carbs, too, which typically digest quite quickly which is why they're your body's preferred source of energy, but the protein forces it to digest slower, releasing the energy at a more managable pace and subsequently allowing you to use that energy through the morning rather than storing it as fat.
I tried both the marshmallow cookie flavour and the apple and cinnamon. The marshmallow cookie was the one I didn't like initially, I had expected it to be delicious but it took a bit of getting used to. It smells like cake and tastes like marshmallow cookie (these things don't usually taste as they claim to, but this does). I was satisfied after a bowl.
It's lumpy if you don't mix it properly. Not knowing what I was doing (I know, how can you not know what you're doing with porridge?!), my first bowl was quite lumpy and I didn't like it, with the lumps being quite powdery. The next day I made sure to mix it more thoroughly and pressed the spoon into the lumps while doing so, which got rid of them completely because the water as able to reach the mixture.
Two scoops of this stuff with 150ml makes for a very satisfying breakfast. I didn't feel it was too much or too little, and at 200 calories, it's an excellent breakfast if you're watching your weight. The carbs are released much slower due to the protein, which keeps you full for most of the morning. They taste great once you get used to them, making the breakfast even better.
It's quite expensive, so though I'd like to buy it more frequently, I can't. But I've not gone back to cereal. Now I eat ordinary porridge with added and unflavoured whey protein and it does the trick just fine. Though I do miss the taste of this! I think I might buy it as a treat every now and then. Since you "can't" have cake for breakfast, the marshmallow cookie porridge is a damn good alternative.
