The only negative aspect of this torch is that the beam is somewhat square when it is on a narrow beam setting, but don't let that put you off what is one of the best value torches on the market, you will not be disappointed in this purchase. Highly recommended
The cap at the back where the soft rubber button is unscrews (ashamed to admit it took me a while to figure that out...) and it takes a single AA battery. The other end of the torch, where the light comes out, can be adjusted to amplify the brightness, widening the light.
The brightness is great. It's not the world's brightest torch, don't get me wrong, but it is more than adequate.
If you slowly depress the button whilst it is turned on, it enters into a flashing mode which I imagine will be handy in case of emergencies.
I was offered this product at a discounted rate in exchange for my honest and impartial review.
Pop an AA battery in and you are away. They provide an excellent amount of light with really good intensity (lumens?) You have the added benefit of being able to zoom the light which basically means you can have a more intense but smaller area of light. To do this you simply push the front part of the torch forwards or backwards as you desire.
I can honestly say that I have disposed of all my other monster sized torches which seem to take loads of batteries and yet give very little light. These were particularly useful during a recent power cut when I left them in various places around the house (including by the bed) and picked them up as I moved around.
I cannot praise these torches highly enough. Great product and very happy customer.
I understand it takes rechargeable ultrafire batteries also, though not tried it. They will be significantly brighter, if you need that much.
The clicker cycles through the 3 modes, so it goes from bright to dim to flashing. I at first thought you had to click it off then on to cycle through; not so, it only needs a light touch to switch to the next mode. I like that. Also, if its been off for longer than a few seconds it always starts in bright mode. That also is my preference, another plus.
And the focus is excellent. It's push pull, I would have preferred a twisting action as I find that more intuitive. But it's solid and pleasantly resistive, not at all loose feeling. And goes from a spread beam down to a precise focus, so you actually get a clear projected image of the light circuitry. Neat.
The only possible negatives I can think of are a) the rubber push button is red. I like it, as do it's recipients. You may not. And b) it's a rather rugged mechanical look. That makes it sturdy and solid in the hand. The two recipients have been women, and they have loved them, so you can't say it's a masculine look, but others might have a different preference.
Highly recommended. At the price its a no brainer.
BTW, you will inevitably look at the light, or shine it in someone else's eye. Human nature. I did, and had a glare spot for a good 5 minutes. That's at AA battery brightness. An ultrafire battery might make it dangerously bright to look directly at.
Bottom line is I don't need any more, but I'm racking my brain for an excuse to buy more. Isn't that sad l!!

A little heavy but extremely bright. Runs on one AA battery which last very well.Read more
