Recipes & photographs of Italy and Holidays
11 May 2016
After watching these two on TV so many times and loving the way they are with each other, Like Brothers, I decided to buy Two Greedy Italians, Watched the program and had to buy the book, Not only for the recipes, but the photo's, the write ups on products used, the process of familys making pasta together, the write ups of their individual lives in Italy, Antonio from the North and Gennaro from the south and the recipes that come from that area.
The Antipasti section has many easy and tasty recipes to impress family and friends,
I had a early apertif evening and served only Antipasti dishes from this book as apertifs dishes, just small nibs to go with drinks, mostly wine.
One plate that emptied really quickly was the Insalata di porcini (mushrooms very thinly sliced and served with the best olive oil, Lemons, crushed garlic, freshly ground black pepper, chopped chives. So simple to make, but a winner.
Stuffed Qualils eggs, another great success, I have never used Quails eggs before and had my doubts, but such a easy recipe.
Fritelle di Baccala, Salt cod fritters, again I have never used salted cod before, but made this lots of times since the only thing is to soak the fish for 48 hours so you need to be prepared well in advance.
Main course,, I know they use this as a starter, but Carpaccio, I love carpaccio and usually make it with Olive Oil, Lemon and Parmesan cheese, so adding fennel was something new and its really different.
Risotto alla marina con verdure, Seafood & vegetable Risotto another favourite
I could go on and on about the recipes, Buy the book you will love it to Oh forgot Scottiglia con polenta alla spianatora, Mixed meat stew with polenta, fantastic on a cold winters night....
