I found this book interestingly revealing. It compares the practices of 'pre-Christian era' pagan religions with modern Catholicism and leaves no doubt in the mind of the reader how so many of those practices have been adopted by the Roman Catholic church. However, in my experience it is very evident that these practices have also been adopted by the Anglican church which makes these two not so far apart in their theological ideas.

A word of warning! This is not a book for those devoutly supportive of such practices and it is very heavy going in terms of reading material.

The author clearly has a grudge against the Roman Catholic Church, calling it Popery. If he were to take an open view and admit for the possibility of the Roman church having a degree of authenticity, despite its many failings, then he would have written a better book. Unfortunately, he doesn't, so the whole book is slanted all through with invective against Catholics. It's style of writing makes it difficult to follow.

Book was recommended by an acquaintance. Although I have started to read this book I have not yet finished. It is an interesting read.
