The hero of the book is one of Tuckers workmates Racer. Racer has a lot of debt left over from his father’s medical loans, so he takes on extra work to help make his payments.
This is how he meets Georgiana Westbrook the rich girl who watches him while he fixes the family pool house. The first time they meet sparks fly with sarcasm and snark turning into to instant dislike. I loved how they played each other it was good fun hence my tittering and laughing in public.
It was a pleasure to read how the relationship between them grew while he refits the shop she has leased.
I think this is one of my favourite Meghan Quinn’s RomCom. I loved all the characters some from past books and some new. It made it a pleasure to read.
I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review
The story flows beautifully. I wanted to just climb inside this story and stay.
Racer and Georgina may seem like polar opposites in background, outlook and seriousness but these are just superficial. Once they got to know each other a deep connection grows and grows.
Another triumph by Meghan Quinn.
Racer always the joker and dare i say drama queen lol is always working. He needs money and lots of it. He not only works full time by also does extra jobs after hours. Some are a little different but money is money and he's prepared to do anything. Completing an extra job he meets Georgiana. Spoiled rich girl she instantly gets his back up. Strutting round without a care in the world Racer doesn't like her instantly. She's everything that he hates. She makes him feel less. When he gets a job offer from her he knows he can't afford to turn it down and accepts. He does everything he can to annoy her.
Georgiana has a strict overbearing father. He pushes his values on his children believing that women should be at home while the men rule the world. Georgiana is determined to support herself. She doesn't want her fathers money she wants to earn it. She wants to be an entrepreneur and build a business. Going to her dad for help he turns her down and even goes as far as trying anything to stop her. Doing things on her own and being cut down at every turn the annoying construction worker Racer is her only choice. She does something she doesn't want to... beg. She begs Racer to help. He's annoying and crass but he's the only one who will help. He makes her angry and her heart pump wildly which she hates.
Over time they start to banter and when she need's more help from Racer things take a turn.
This book was actually sweeter than i thought it would be. From the first page it starts a slow burn going from everything each other hates to being everything each other didn't realize they needed. I love how they do actually need each other like Yin and Yang they just fit.
Racer was a lot sweeter than i thought. In My Best Friends Ex he was forever the joker but in this you see a few other sides to him. My heart broke a little when you see his vulnerable side. The side where he doesn't feel good enough for Georgiana. Also his love for his Dad. Wow some of his inner monologue broke my heart for his loss. Of course there are some humorous moments from him. The best man proposal had me laughing out loud. He's also extremely sexy. Those parts... phewwww plenty of panting and sweating going on over here.
I liked Georgiana. I liked how driven she was to get away from her overbearing father. There was also some funny moments from her while she was bantering with Racer.
It was great to see Tucker and Emma again, also Adalyn, i love her friendship with Racer. I also really loved Georgiana's friend Madison and her brother Abe and sister in law Waverley. All great additions and fun. Also Smalls. I can't wait for his book i love a big hulk of a man!!!
I loved the storyline and the writing was excellent the only thing i felt let it down a bit by was i wanted more of the dramatic fun Racer. I understand he's not like that all the time and for the storyline he needed to be serious but i felt there wasn't enough of that side of him. Maybe because Georgiana wasn't as fun?? I'm not sure. I think this is probably just my personal preference. I missed his crazy side in amongst the seriousness. I also felt Georgiana could have done more for Racer and on behalf of him. I felt she should have stood up for him more maybe.
Overall fab book. Really sweet and a great story. You don't have to have read My Best Friends Ex to enjoy this but i would highly recommend that book too.
If your eyes are still red and puffy from crying after you finished reading the latest heart-wrenching book, this is the perfect remedy for your book hangover. A seriously funny story about Racer and Georgiana told in dual points of view. Seldom have I laughed out loud when reading romantic comedies and this one had me at every chapter.
Racer is a blue collar hero/knight-in-shining-armour and a male stripper by mistake (you’ll find out about this one on the first quarter of the book). He works for a construction company together with his close friends, Tucker and Aaron aka Smalls. He was raised by his father singlehandedly and was brought up with the motto: “Make mistakes, tell the worst truth rather than the best lie, love hard, and be the better man.”
Georgiana is the exact opposite of Racer. She was born rich, her dad is in politics and her mom is the typical socialite. Although Georgie comes from a privileged background she actually wants more to life than just shopping and going to parties looking for the perfect husband with matching social status.
The first meeting between this two didn’t go down very well it was more like hate at first sight. Each one is not impressed with the other but they are forced to work together because both were desperate: she wants validation and he is broke. He thinks she’s a spoiled brat and she thinks he’s rude and bossy.
“Don’t be so stuck-up. I know it’s hard to dislodge the pole that was stuck up your ass when you were born, but with a little lube, we can shimmy it out.” He wiggles his eyebrows. “I don’t mind taking it out for you and replacing it with my good-time pole.”
Racer always tries to get the rise out of Georgiana and she always falls for it but she can also give as good as she gets.
“How about we just don’t make any noise? How does that sound? Hmm?”
“I can’t work in silence. It’s too boring. We could have a conversation, or will that be too difficult for you? Putting sentences together rather than talking like an ass-scratching ape?”
This pair’s snarky banter is hilarious it is verbal foreplay at its best. Their friends are as equally as funny too. What I like about the main characters is that even though they are from different backgrounds they have the same passion for work. Underneath Racer’s crude sense of humour and Georgiana’s high society image both are genuinely good people with kind hearts. One of the funniest books I’ve read and yet also made me cry (a little bit, mind you). Step aside Christian Grey I’d rather have Racer any time of the day. He’s got no issues, he’s sexy and can dance like a male stripper and good with his hands. Highly recommended! 5 stars!
