It was an ok read - for me, I just felt as though I needed something more from West and Lily. Maybe if something had happened a little earlier in the book or if one of them had been aware of their feelings a little earlier on, it would have drawn me into them a little more.
What I did like was the supporting cast and I hope to read more about the other guys in the future.
This book has the most beautiful cover and I’m a sucker for a good cover.
But honestly this book didn’t rock my world!
I adored West I mean seriously. .. beard, manbun the images I picture of him are practically xrated lol. I thought Lily was very sweet although honestly at times she needed some sense knocking into her!!
I just found this whole story a little slow! I think I was waiting for something unexpected to happen and unfortunately it just didn’t.
I’m used to reading predominantly ARCS so there tends to be a lot of typos etc. But this was a final Amazon paid purchase and yet there were still quite a lot of editing issues.
I found this book enjoyable and not badly written just incredibly predictable and I was just hoping for something more.
The sex with Blane was epically bad deliberately by the author but then the other sex scenes were so boring I almost fell asleep!
Perhaps I’m being a little harsh but just my hopes were high and unfortunately this is just a nice story.
With a twist gets an OK 3 stars from me.
Lily is a ballerina and has dedicated her life to her profession. She has had a crush on Blane a fellow dancer since the day she first caught eyes on him, when he shows interest in her she can't help but bend the rules. Unfortunately when someone is put on a high pedestal there is a long way to fall and Blane wasn't quite what she imagined.
West is Lilly's best friend. They have always been close but strictly platonic. They live close to each other and have the same circle of friends. They click like a key in a lock. There friendship is easy. It just takes a twist in the water to stir up the balance and just maybe they will work out sometimes the right person for you is right in front of you.
Can be read as a standalone... however I loved this series.
Sometimes you just want to fall into a book and get lost. Not have to think too much about it and just really enjoy what you are reading. I found Staci Hart’s With a Twist kind of like that. I laughed and sniffled through this friends to lover book and learnt a few new things on my way too. It truly was an absolute delight to read. I found the overall setting quite captivating also and characters that you’d be crazy not to fall in love with. It was written so well, great character development, nice little plot going on, a few side stories that you know are there because there’s more to come in the future. It was quite richly descriptive also, which I also love, I know a lot of people skip that kind of thing but for me it just enhances a book when it’s written like this. This ticked all those boxes for me.
So you’re eager to know what I learnt right? Off the top of my head “hot beef.” Yeah, never heard that expression before and it absolutely tickled me pink – “He just gave me the hot beef and sent me on my way.” I had a snort at the pet name “lilypad” too, omg every time I read that all I could think of was a feminine hygiene pad. Thankfully Lily is not down with that pet name.
I absolutely swooned over Weston; crikey it is so hard not to what with all the man bun and soft beard thing going on, then add those tattoos and that intellectual brain of his. Wow, pretty much my perfect guy! (ssshhh, don’t tell my hubby) Blane was a total douchebag, I mean utterly. I liked that Staci didn’t dive too much into Blane’s personality so you were left guessing what his angle was. Lily is just adorable but not in the cutesy kind of doormat way either. I really liked her, and I had all the time in the world for her relationship with Rose.Read more ›
