After looking closely at Twinkle garments in knitting mags I thought I would like to buy this book to knit the Pacifica jumper. This pattern was not simple to follow, I ended up unravelling everything and reknitting when it was clear the tension was unsuccesful and the garment didn't drape properly (ok I wasn't using the recommended yarn, but you can't buy it easily in UK). The instructions are not clear and are downright unworkable for the crochet border - I ended up designing something that looked like the picture and was not stiff as a board. When I checked on Ravelry I found a similar comment from the test knitter for the garment.

At this price, I expect some professional editing to have taken place. But if you are in love with the concept make sure you create a really flexible swatch before starting. The needle sizes given are bizarre - you cannot buy a 12.75mm needle and 4mm crochet hook is ridiculously small if you plan to crochet with 4 threads as in the photo'd garment.

I like the designs, Wenlan Chia has a great eye for drape, colour and style. BUT this book, like her others, is filled with errors. It's hard to match the pattern tension and I don't have this issue with other designers work as I'm experienced enough to adapt my knitting to suit the need. I do love the designs, it's well laid out, beautifully photographed and lovely to have around the house. Everyone picks it up and says how lovely it is. But they haven't tried to knit any of the patterns! Also, as a real woman, it's not exactly inspiring to see huge chunky jumpers on 12 year old sick looking models, lets see some healthy girls and actual adults please? Sizing is small, so I presume Wenlan is petite. In the uk the average woman is a size 16 and these designs will need to be upsized to fit a 14/16 upwards. All in all, I like it, but I'm irritated that such an expensive book has so many silly errors. Tech Editors take note, please try harder on her next book, unless you do, I won't be buying it. And that's a shame.

OMG I LOVE THIS BOOK. All patterns are chunky, some using 4 yarns at a time, alternatives are given although they are American. Not too difficult but I would say for the more adventurous knitter because of the amount of yarns on the go. Well laid out, beauifully photographed. Cant wait to start knitting!
