This is one of my absolute Jerry Goldsmith scores! It's just perfect. This belongs to a group of soundtracks that he made during the 80s that made my childhood: Poltergeist (my favorite), Gremlins and Explorers. This is the full expanded soundtrack and it works beautifully. It can be menacing, devilishly fun, poignant and mysterious. It offers a very well balanced display of acoustic orchestra and electronic sounds without being cheesy. Great compositions that work wonderfully within the movie and outside of it. Highly recommended

Brilliant. Due to the variety of themes, from fun & exciting during the "Kick the Can" segment to weird & eerie during the "It's a wonderful World" segment to creepy & fun during the "Nightmare at 32,000 feet segment", my favorite part of the film, the music, written by the late great Jerry Goldsmith is a perfect reflection on his versatility in film music composition

5.0 out of 5 stars Nights are no longer forever. 19 Sept. 2016

I finally got my hands on this CD. I was really only looking for the Jennifer Warned song Nights are Forever which seems to have only ever been released on this CD. It cost me a pretty penny, but at last I don't have to search for this fantastic song any longer. Delivery was very fast too.

5.0 out of 5 stars There Is Magic Here 1 Aug. 2001

There's a lot of magic on this album. I love this score. It's one of my favorites by Jerry Goldsmith and just a favorite in general. There is something very ethereal about the quality of the music. It's beautifully magical and has an unearthly feel like something that is very fragile and must be treated gently. It mirrors so many of the situations in the film. Walk ever so softly. You never know what may happen next. The score has that same feel of facing the unknown that Goldsmith composed and scored into STAR TREK: THE MOTION PICTURE written just a few years earlier. It seems like ever since STAR TREK: THE MOTION PICTURE Goldsmith's music has become more introspective and soul searching. The main characters in TWILIGHT ZONE: THE MOVIE have either lost their way or lost their purpose of being. Goldsmith's music captures this ever so fervently. Hearing Rod Serling's words from his own lips over Marius Constant `s original theme on Track 8 was quite moving and was something of an Elegy to Mister Serling and his creation. I waited many years to get this album on Compact Disc. I was moved when I listened to it and every time since.

5.0 out of 5 stars Rare find these days 14 Dec. 2008
By S. Griggs - Published on Amazon.com

This album has been in my collection ever since it's original release way back when. My collection is quite large and have been slowly collecting some of the old stuff in CD format that I have on vinyl such as this one. It took so long for it to come out and nearly gave up and forgot to check. Now I found it while searching for "Zone" DVD's and discovered that it's out of print it seems! Wow from one extreme to the next and nearly missed finding it. One reviewer mentioned one song in this CD "why was it even on there?" In fact, that very song was the main reason I wanted it. "Nights Are Forever". It was the song playing in the night club when Vic Morrow walked in. It was not a mainstream song in the film. But I liked it so much. I was very pleased that it made the sound track.
4.0 out of 5 stars The third (or first?) Gremlin movie soundtrack by Goldsmith! 8 Aug. 2001
By Jason Pratt - Published on Amazon.com

Definitely an eclectic mix. The Overture (actually played during the end credits), and the music to the first and fourth stories were my favorites. Nothing particularly wrong with the other two tracks; I just found them less interesting. The album seems short, but it was originally produced as an LP, I guess; so the music for each segment is presented in specific (and somewhat reduced) blocks. Sound quality is very good, though. The "Terror at 40,000 Feet" music appropriately features some of the 'gremlin' themes used in his soundtracks to the (Spielburg produced) two Gremlin movies--a real bonus, which I hadn't remembered before buying this CD.
5.0 out of 5 stars Superb Jerry Goldsmith Film Score 8 Oct. 2007
By Ernie McHone - Published on Amazon.com

Jerry Goldsmith will always be one of my favorite film composers. The man crafted such scores as "First Blood", "Gremlins" and even the original Twilight Zone Television series.

Here Goldsmith gives us music from each segment included in the motion picture, "Time Out", "Kick The Can", "It's A Good Life" and the infamous "Nightmare at 200,000 feet". The score goes from being militaristic to whimsical & romantic, and even eerie and horrifying.

This is a must for any Goldsmith fan, and a great companion piece to the film of the same name. Thank you Amazon.com for making this available.
