Such a unique and exciting take on both a fairytale and fantasy. The two were combined brilliantly, and the fairytale aspect was completely different from any I have read before. This is definitely a story I want to continue and an author I will follow.

I like that the calligraphy and book brought in the whole realization of a fairytale. It was interesting to think they had been forced to search for each other for centuries, just to finish writing their love story. I loved that this time our charming one must save our leading lady from a lifer that could never be complete, as she is without true love, rather than a monster. This story definitely made you feel just how hard being without love, for centuries, could be and brings in the feeling that it is much worse than being held by a dragon.

The characters were fantastic. I loved that the lead lady didn't have a clue as to why things were falling apart and she was unhappy. It was very real, raw and hard to imagine the pain, as she cut herself to,deal with what she felt, or didn't feel. Then, as we got to know her, just how much she wanted to love and how strong she really was, she was thrown into a completely different culture, in a wee village. I loved that she blossomed there. It was unexpected and felt so free and happy.

The pace was good, as it stayed mostly as a medium pace, to give us time to feel and see what was happening, but it had some moments of faster pace, to try and battle an evil that wanted to ruin the two main characters' chances at finishing their story.

Overall, really good read. It is fun, different and really easy to get into.

I would like to thank the author and Kiss Off Blog Tours for sending me a copy of this book in exchange for a fair and honest review.

This story took me awhile to get into as Hope told the back story to Deirdre and Morgann. Then the story jumped forward to Rose and her spending time with her family in Provincetown. It was actually a while before Rose (Deirdre) and Virgil (Morgann) actually meet and this began to get in my nerves. I wanted to know more way before the author actually gets to the nitty gritty.

The story really is a roller coaster ride sometimes I was captivated and kept turning the pages and others I was frustrated at a few parts in the story. It is a unique telling of a story and a great debut from the author.

What I will say is I would have preferred more showing ie when we are told about Morgann and Deidre I would liked to have read the scenes between them, especially where she cast the spell to save their souls.

I love a fantasy/paranormal romance and this is a great story and very captivating. I loved all the 80's movie star names and the references to The Breakfast Club and other brat pack films.

The only thing I was sure of was the hero's name of Virgil, sorry it just didn't work for me. When I read a story I want to fall in love with the main character but the name for me just didn't work.

This debut novel from Hope Irving has characters from the 8th Century, as well as contemporary ones. There are a few flashbacks from Morgann, but mainly it is done as Virgil thinking, or occasionally writing, about things.

There is a lot happening in this book, and yet paradoxically, nothing much seems to happen either. Rose is an unhappy character when we first meet as she has broken up with her first long-term boyfriend/relationship and has taken to cutting herself. Virgil is described as a sexy-ugly, nearly 7-foot giant. Unfortunately, because of the constant references to him being awkward and ugly, I kept on seeing Quasimodo in my mind!

An interesting storyline that doesn't answer much, but instead leads you to the next book.
