There is a point on the headband where the earcup "bracket" is screwed to the headband by two microscrews, and it's here where the build is not of sufficient quality: by that I mean that the brittle plastic has broken.
This is not through any misuse or hard knocks - at the end of the day I spent £150 on these babies and as you can imagine, I treat them with care. They don't get dropped, thrown, or treated any other way that you wouldn't treat a set of Hi-Fidelity headphones. I don't even let the kids use them.
It's a shame too, because Hi-Fidelity is what they are. From a technology perspective, they've been brilliant, giving a crisp, clear, and immersive sound which is even adjustable to suit different types of play. Battery life is good, while the provided power lead is long enough that I can play while it's charging anyway without hindrance.
I've superglued the parts back together and as a result am up and running with a fine headset. For £150 I shouldn't need to do this, but now you're paying around £60, maybe it's not as big a deal. But be warned - this seems to be a recurring fault with Turtle Beach.
It seems to be unnecessarily fiddly trying to get the headset to pair with the transmitter. Not to say it can't be done, but it took me several attempts and even when it did finally connect I was doing the exact same thing i had been doing all along so who knows why it suddenly decided to play along! Any time you lose power and the transmitter looses its pairing you have to go through it again. But generally once you are paired you will be set for many many months of use.
I seem to have this issue. Whenever I join chat on the xbox, I can hear people but they cannot hear me. It seems I have to do this ritual where I turn off my controller, turn of the headset and then turn them both back on at the same time. Sometimes it will start working after 2 - 3 times of me doing that, sometimes after 7 - 8 or more. Very odd, and a bit frustrating. I have to do this every day at the start of my gaming sessions when I join party chat. Once you are sorted though you will be fine for the rest of the evening and won;t have to do it again until the next day.
Before this I had the wired Turtle Beach X11's. One thing I loved them for was the heavy bass. THis seems to have been removed in the wireless versions. To save battery maybe, I am not sure. But the bass lacks much of the punch I was used to. And as a result this headset is no longer any good for listening to music on. There are several equalizer presets and I believe you can configure your own, but it is the design and headset drivers (the physical drivers that is!) that lacks the oomph, not the equalizer settings. Also note this does not contain the sound very well.Read more ›
i have just one flaw; the left ear piece doesnt fit properly with my ear, but maybe it's just me! overall recommend this!
battery is good, last long
after 2 weeks of having the headset i started noticing that they was not holding there charge like they should so i read up about this matter and it was a common problem with the px3 turtle beaches so i thought oh well ill just get a new rechargeable battery when this one wont charge no more wrong again you cant replace the internal battery to the headset when it goes it goes and so does the headset i not have a headset that wont charge at all ive even tried playing with them plugged in to the charger that wont work just get a loud bleeping sound when i tried and headset turned itself off cant use them for anything.
so what now i am left with is a headset that dose not work due to it wont charge and a ps3/pc/xbox 360 transmitter box that's good for nothing what a great way to waste money. do not get this headset there are no ways to get any help for these headsets once they are on there way out your just done for
DO NOT GET THIS HEADSET
