I bought this book to use on 2 weeks walking in March 2015 where I based myself at Kalkan. The book has lots of useful information and shows roughly where places of interest are and roughly where the Lycian Way runs when it comes close to the 15 walks described in this book. There are some town plans and maps for the walks described, but the walk maps are not detailed enough, especially as the walk instructions are often unclear. I tried four or five walks, but usually ended up lost. The descriptions probably make sense if you already know the walk - for instance it will say "near the end of the track take the path to the right". Well, how do you know when you are near the end - and you pass several cross roads and come eventually to a t junction and don't know whether to go left or right! So far I have been unable to find any map with a better scale than 1-150,000 but I understand there are military maps available somewhere. The maps for the walks do have GPS UTM grids so it was useful when used with my Nexus tablet to locate myself when lost. Good Luck!
I used this book visiting Kas and Kastellorizo only. This is a good area for walking. I can only thank Sunflower for bringing this place to my attention. Dean Livesley is a new writer for me, unfortunately I find his walk descriptions fairly poor and inaccurate. The map tracings done for this book are also bad and of little help. Including many updates I have 60 centimeters worth of bookshelf covered by only Sunflower books (mostly Landscapes) plus some I only have as PDFs, this one I must rate as one of the most badly written.
I bought this book as I was going to Kalkan for the first time. The map of Kalkan is laughable. It refers to 4 categories of services, eg hotels, restaurants, bars, cafes etc, these are coloured, but then the numbers are in the wrong colours, some of the numbers in the index are missing off the map, and some of the addresses of the restaurants don't match the position on the map. A complete joke!
We stayed in Kas during late November. It is a lovely town, but as the book stated, during the off-season it is very quiet and public transportation is less frequent. For this reason, we only did walks #3 (along the coast) and #6 (coast and inland through pastoral landscape to atmospheric ruins at Phelos)). The book provided directions that allowed us to easily start each of the walks from Kas to the start of sections of the well-marked Lycian Way. The description of the Phelos ruins was too vague to be able to find the specific sites on the overgrown hillside.
I bought this as a guidebook but it turns out that it is actually a walking guide, so not much use to me. Also my main interest is in the Dalyan region which, despite featuring in the title, is barely mentioned. A little bit deceptive I believe, and probably deliberate too.
This book was very informative when we were going on holiday to dalyan Some nice trips in the book Lots of information to take in before you go away so you have a basic knowledge of the place you are going to visit
