We were introduced to the Winston brothers in Ashley's book from the Knitting series.
This book is sweet, funny and well worth a read.
Duane is a twin so we are introduced to Beau and Cletus who work with Duane but also the other brothers and neighbors and friends.
There are some very funny moments and lines, you need to pay attention because the writing is spectacular.
I thought the solution to their problem of being together I'd obvious but Duane has his own issues so when it gets resolved it's great. I would have liked a bit more redemption to the idiotic action he takes that hurts Jessica but that said they do feature in more of the series so he obviously makes her very happy.
The book leaves you hungry for the other brothers books although for Duane and Jessica there is a HEA. The is drama with a sort of ex and insights into enemies for past and future books.
But it didn't play out like that... nope, we got bikers and different dreams/aspirations and stuff I think the story could have done without.
I won't be continuing the series, no matter how much one of the brothers and his behaviour around Claire intrigued me.
And yeah, it was just a hunch and I might not be always right. But luckily, I really enjoyed reading Truth or Beard. To be completely honest, it didn't blow me away but that's overshadowed by the fact that it did actually surprise me. I thought I was getting into a bad boy, bad attitude, from hate to love story and it turned out to be something else completely. Something better.
I loved the writing style and I also loved how the author gave a voice to the female lead. For once, it is the female main character the one with the restless mind waiting to wander the world and not settle, and the male character the one who just wanted to throw the fishing net and settle down, and ultimately the one that had to open his eyes to adventure. Their dynamic was sweet and super funny, definitely entertaining even considering some silly things happening that I will not get into now.
All in all, entertaining, funny, sweet and a must read for ginger beard lovers.

Absolutely love the Winston Brothers I thought they were all fab fun and flirty!
The chemistry between Duane and Jessica was great from the start and the book kept us going with a few twists and turns throughout.
Will definitely read more written by Penny Reid.
Truth - I loved this book
Beard - to be honest I'm not really a fan of beards, but if I met a group of brothers like The Winstons, my mind could be changed!
This is the first book I've read by this author, a friend recommended it a while ago and I'm so glad I read it.
It had everything, humour, angst, a good story, it was well written and had a host of very loveable characters up against the veritable bad guys (and a gorgeous 1966 Mustang car! )
Duane, the slightly tortured hero was a total gentleman, determined not to be like his good for nothing father, and so ensured he always had a plan. Jessica felt like an outsider in her family but was determined to follow her dreams and explore the world. Falling in love was definitely not in her plan! (some of her internal monologues were hilarious)
I loved their journey and am really looking forward to meeting more of The Winstons in book 2 (especially if Cletus gets to cook his "special" sausage on the bbq again, lol :-D )
