Grace, Jude and Erica were all high school friends and when we initially meet them they are all grown up and all have their own lives. The three women are extremely different and it doesn't take long to understand that something that happened many years ago has been a long and guarded secret between them all. As soon as I started reading this book I was drawn into the characters and found it compelling reading. Each woman seems to be going through their own issues and as the story progressed I found myself wondering which one of them was going to be the one to break their promise.

The characters were readable although don't be surprised if, like me, you end up either liking or loathing them. The story also managed to give you glimpses of the women's pasts by flashing back to when they were younger. It was done well and at no time was I confused, if anything I just became even more intrigued. The thing that threw me about this book was the fact that it was nothing like I expected. It was a very emotional read in the sense that there are many shocking events that transpire, but the book was done with such empathy that it truly was fantastic to read.

Towards the end the suspense seemed to go up a few levels and I found myself racing through the last quarter of the book. The book seemed to tackle many topics including religion and adultery but it was done with a practised ease. I can honestly say that there were some parts of the book that shocked me as I wasn't expecting something to happen but it just made it more enjoyable. I can honestly say that this book was a fantastic read and one that had me turning pages rather quickly.

A fabulous read that I would recommend and I will certainly be looking out for more by this wonderful Canadian author!

Well I can honesty say that this is probably the best self-published novel I've read to date. (Not that I've read many, but I think I've read enough to be sure of that much). I often find that when stories are up to scratch with self-published novels there are problems with editing, which is understandable as the author won't have a whole team of editors and proofreaders behind them. I found few problems with editing with this book though, there were only a couple of times I thought something should be changed (and I'm really bad for spotting things like that).
Readability wise it was a quick and easy read but more substantial than easy reads tend to be. I really felt for the characters, especially Erica, and even understood June up to a point. I'm not sure I can exactly side with Grace but it certainly is somewhat of a moral dilemma, especially when taken with the twist at the end.
I must admit that I found June the most interesting character, she just seemed so naive in a way that was kind of difficult to understand.

I took a while to get into this book as it leads you in, character by character, building on their pasts and their relationship to one another. They share a terrible secret and now one of them has decided that now is the time to bring it out into the open.............

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The story evolves around three friends who had gone their separate ways but are brought together again by a shared secret. I thought the characters were well written and believable and that the way the characters change and progress through the story made it very good reading. One small thing - I found that if I left the book alone for more than a day, I had to flick back through the pages to recap but that may well say more about me than about the author!

Like another reviewer, I found myself galloping through the last few pages of the book to see how it ended and, although it wasn't earth-shattering, the ending didn't disappoint.

I would definitely recommend it, not as an exciting thriller but as a well-written, interesting book which will keep your attention to the last page.

By A. Rose TOP 500 REVIEWERVINE VOICE on 3 Jun. 2012
Format: Kindle Edition
Three quite different girls, Grace, Erica and Jude, first meet whilst at College when they all lodge in the same house. At that time Grace has a terrible sexual experience and her two friends are the only people she talks to about the event and, a little later, what she has done by way of revenge. All three girls vow never to reveal their secret and for many years all goes well. Jude is the loose cannon. Of the three of them she is the most promiscuous, uses drugs and doesn't have a good job or home life. As they grow into young women, and in the case of Erica a wife and mother, their stories develop and change into new people with new problems. Jude's life is unstable and she turns to the church for guidance and the love of God in a most extreme way. Jude sees that the truth is the only way to repent and to reach heaven and the secret she kept with Erica and Grace is then an unexploded time bomb which could bring devastation to each of their lives.

I don't want to give any more of the story away, suffice to say that I found it very gripping, thought provoking and un-put-downable. It's written in a very easy seamless way with plenty of excitement and mystery in each short chapter. The three girls stories flow so well and their differing lifestyles contrasts and complement each other. My only criticism is that the story is too short - I wanted more !
