This is a compilation of short stories written by members of the Romantic Novelists' Association and it includes tales from some of the most well-known names in the heart-squeezing, tear-jerking romance genre.

A Rose by any other Name Would Smell As Sweet by Adele Parks - It was the quintessence of family concern and their attempt at playing Cupid.
A Sensible Proposal by Anna Jacobs - Love found during times of great desperation.
The Corporate Wife by Carole Matthews - Everyone ages and only the ones willing to accept that are worthy of your time, loyalty and love.
The Art of Travel by Elizabeth Buchan - Time to let go of the memory of perfect love and move on.
The Rough with the Smooth by Elizabeth Chadwick - I wasn't impressed with the way hubby treated the wife. Not at all, regardless of the era.
Living the Dream by Katie Fforde - The grass isn't always greener on the other side, be grateful for what you have.
True Love by Maureen Lee - A whole life spent loving and living a memory.
Love on Wheels by Miranda Dickinson - Old love rekindled when two people find each other again after many years.
Clarion Call by Catherine King - Just a coincidence or meant to be?

Puppy Love by Chrissie Manby - Moral of the story, cheaters always get their just desserts. Oh and never mess with witches.
Third Act by Fanny Blake - Past loves meet up and their passion is reignited.
A real Prince by Fiona Harper - It is true what they say, you have to kiss many frogs to find your prince. Some frogs are just more ignorant than others.
The Fundamental Things by Heidi Rice - Misconceptions can lead to a lost lifetime.
Summer '43 by India Gray - Chasing dreams that will never come to pass.

The RNA have chosen the cream of its writers for their anthology of up-to-the-minute stories on this timeless theme. I've really enjoyed this collection of intelligent and beautifully crafted short stories; many have a surprising twist, others gentle or outrageous humour or searing heartbreak. The delight of this collection is that you never know! Glad I got the kindle edition with its additional eleven treats! A must-buy for all romantic souls.

I'm not normally a fan of short stories, whether presented on their own, as a tie-in to an existing novel or as a collection around a particular theme. I generally find there simply isn't enough space for the proper plot development and characterisation that usually draws me into a book, and they lack a certain spark which could have made them more than just an unpolished draft of a much-longer story.

When I initially heard about Truly, Madly, Deeply I figured this wouldn't be one for me. However, some of the authors involved I admire greatly and so despite my normal stand on short stories I found myself tempted by the idea of the novel and eventually decided to give it a go. And I am very glad that I did as this is a surprisingly meaningful collection of contemporary and historical women's fiction.

The great variety in authors, settings, characters and even genres within the larger women's fiction umbrella makes this not only a book in which everyone will be able to find that one special story that will make them laugh out loud on the train or tear up vehemently, but also a delightful discovery of new writers and lesser known but still very significant historical affairs.

Each story is introduced by a brief summary of the author's life and writing accomplishments, whetting the reader's appetite before they've even read a single word of the story. In my case, while I picked up the novel to read something new from favourites such as Carole Matthews and Miranda Dickinson I ended up falling in love with many other authors too.

I am a huge fan and lover of short stories. I’ve said this a lot - the truly BEAUTIFUL thing about short stories is that they are SO EASY to pick up, you can read an entire short story on your lunch break, on your way to work, while waiting for an appointment, and you get the joy of finishing a wonderful story and the excitement of knowing that there are more stories waiting for you.

Knowing how much I love short stories, Truly Madly Deeply was made even better for me because it featured stories from my favourite authors! Miranda Dickinson, Carole Matthews, Adele Parks and many more have written brilliant stories for readers to devour and enjoy!

I thoroughly enjoyed these! The best thing about these stories is that they all cover romance in their own special and unique way. There are a vibrant mix of stories, themes and characters, with each story as engrossing as the next, so there really is something for everyone! I had MANY favourites, but a personal highlight for me was Miranda Dickinson’s Love On Wheels, it was truly beautiful!

So whether you savour it to read in sections or devour it all in one go – Truly Madly Deeply is an engaging and enjoyable collection of short stories that all romance fans should own!
