After a couple of months use around our 3-acre woodland site the Raptor has already become a trusty partner. I would strongly recommend the version with the Oregon blade and chain and the Walbro carburetor. I chose the 20" blade with 52cc engine. My guess is that the 16" version is just as good.
However, this is a fairly eccentric power tool (in and endearing way). As mentioned by others there are a few quirks. But none of these detract from the performance or usability once you are aware of them (and other brand-name saws certainly have their weak points too).
Fuel cap/plug: The seating is a bit sketchy. Make sure both the seat on the body of the saw and the rubber washer on the plug are clean when closing. Do not over tighten. There is a slight over-centre feel in the final 1/4 rotation. Go just past this and then a fraction more.
Oil cap plug: This has a better seal and fit, but compared with some other brand-name saws both the fuel and oil plugs need just a bit of care and attention. Not a problem at all if you are aware of it.
Chain cover: When replacing this it is easy to get the black flexible plastic seal at the rear of the cover slightly out of line. It then kinks and gets bent out, preventing the cover sitting flush. Just keep your eye on this when closing and keep the cover pushed in place while tightening the rear bolt first. If it does kink just remove the cover and bend it back.
Starting is fairly easy (for a chain saw this size): DO follow the cold-start instructions in the handbook: Lock throttle in the 20% position. Pull out the choke knob. Chain brake ON (basic safety).Read more ›

Very hard to start takes 2 people as one has to hold the throttle a bit. The saw leeks all its chain oil over a few days and now it's leaking petrol too. Read morePublished 26 days ago by The bigyin
