I love reading books of this sort whether the writer is based in the Usa or Uk, but found this a bit confusing. The stories were ok but nothing special. This Officer was working in the 70's by the way he writes and was slightly confusing to me but it did make me laugh sometimes. If you are a retired officer it may be a great gift, otherwise I would only recommend it if it's on offer very cheaply. Good try though.

The material was good, but I did not finish this book because I gave up on the poor grammar and spelling. Mr Turk complains about the person who offered to proof read it. It is a pity he had such a bad experience with the first one. If it had been better done, it would have been an excellent read showing the true everyday life of a British copper. I loved the stories and the common sense comments on them.

If you are after a fast paced book scented with the adrenaline and testosterone filled life of a Law Enforcement Officer, this book is not for you. The Sweeney this is definitely not. If you want to take a disturbing journey through the worst sides of humanity with a guide who is compassionate, observant, non-judgemental but at the same time struggles to make sense of all the criminality and evil - you will find this book difficult to put down. Turk Parker's personal commentary and observations adds an emotional charge to each incident and you can almost smell the body odour and feel the stiff serge of the uniform. It is a pity he has not written any more material to date, I for one would not hesitate to purchase it.

I expected more for my money such as half a dozen more cases, I know more entertaining stories without being a copper.

It wasn't quite what it said on the tin. The author spent quite a bit of time giving the reader his views and or philosophies on various aspects of modern life. I found myself getting bored and skimming through large tracts of the text.
