This is a pretty decent soundtrack. All the tracks have a definite True Blood feel. There are a few tracks I end up skipping, but on an 18-track album, this is bound to happen!

It loses a star because of all the different versions of "She's Not There" - one is enough!! Four is too many!! The cover of Bad Things is also a little needless. And placed directly after the original, it doesn't make for good listening. Not everyone uses the shuffle button!!

Loving "Te Ni Nee Ni Nu" !

...Have found the previous True Blood cd soundtracks a positive joy, this however is slightly darker in tone and perfect for when the nights draw in. Brilliant blues tracks nestle against fresh and sassy covers of old classics like 'Season of the Witch' and 'She's Not There' (nice one Mr Cave!). Poignancy is provided by tracks such as 'Gonna be a Darkness' and 'Spellbound' while Massive Attack transports you to the underbelly of headjam! So I suggest you pop some wolfbane over your porch, slip a crucifix on and be seduced by some amazing music. A definite 'fang-banger'!

I haven't had much chance to listen to this album yet so this is only my initial opinion. I think it is much stronger than the first soundtrack but it is missing a few of the best songs from the series! Also, it is mostly music from season 4, despite it being volume 3.
Season of the Witch, Me and the Devil, She's Not There and Paradise Circus are very good songs. Much of the album is very deep, dark, intense and stirring... just how it should be! But then there are a few songs which really aren't anything special.

I'm gutted that they have missed out some of the best songs of the series such as
"I Wish I was the Moon"- Nekko Case
"Burning Down the House"- The Used
"Aly Walk With Me"- The Raveonettes.

...and lots of the other brilliant songs that appeared on the end credits. But oh well, you can't have everything! Overall, the album is worth a listen, whether you're a True Blood fan or not!

3.0 out of 5 stars Good, but doesn't bite or suck enough. 6 Sept. 2011
By H3@+h - Published on Amazon.com
This third season of True Blood music is hit-or-miss just like the other two seasons. It's just a matter of liking the bands and songs, which I guess every soundtrack is.

Karen Elson (Jack White's ex) does the opener. Donovan is the "guest" which he should be since he wrote it. Gordon Gano (Violent Femmes) does the song "Hitting The Ground" with PJ Harvey. That's a good one. Siouxsie And The Banshees have their song "Spellbound" included, though they have many a song I think would have been a better choice, like "Carousel", "The Last Beat Of My Heart" or "The Ghost In You". "Gonna Be A Darkness" is a little bit Wallflowers, a little bit Jayhawks. Massive Attack is here with a decent track, but with vocals from Hope Sandoval (Mazzy Star) I expected more. And again...Jace Everett.

My biggest complaint is that there's a version of this soundtrack with four bonus cuts which includes a cool cover of "Bad Things" by rockers Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, but it's not this version. Also a six dollar download isn't the best deal I've ever seen. I also have to say...with a third soundtrack of music, how have they never included the Concrete Blonde cut "Bloodletting (The Vampire Song)"? And where's Type O Negative? Bill's drink of choice.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Volume 3 soundtrack to "True Blood" is excellent! 9 Sept. 2011

The Volume 3 soundtrack to "True Blood" is excellent! This is an excellent collection of songs from Seasons 3 & 4, and also Season 5, as well. All the songs on here are excellent. However, there are 4 missing tracks that aren't on here, that are excellent, as well. The Black Rebel Motorcycle Club's version of "Bad Things" and 3 other versions of "She's Not There" by Dick Israel and The Soothsayer, Lawentura & Paper Pilots, that are on iTunes.

I am a True-bie. I love the books and the HBO show. For the series, the music is where it is at.... the songs are funny, sultry and easy to listen to. I have each of the series soundtracks and I love each one separately, yet equally. I am VERY pleased with my purchase and look forward to every book, soundtrack and series in the years to come.
4.0 out of 5 stars If you like the music from True Blood... 26 Nov. 2012

If you're like me and love the music from True Blood, you'll love these CDs. The CD from Season One is mostly the theme/scene music, which is generally instrumental. It does have that great intro song, "I Wanna Do Bad Things With You" and others. The others in the series are full of the music that is on at the end of each episode, which is sometimes the name of the episode. Great music from an addictive show!
