When I read the first few pages I was hooked. It was scary to try and imagine what was going on when Sarah sees the blinding light. My imagination was in overtime here!
Sarah had been looking out for her husband (a farmer) who should have been home ages ago. After all he was only in the top field checking on some sheep. Why hadn't he come home yet, what could have happened? The events that follow as Sarah tries to find out where her husband is are traumatic to say the least, especially when she discovers Dave, one of the farmhands, lying in the road. What was wrong with Dave? Sarah is horrified. How can this be happening and what has really happened to Pete, her husband?
As Sarah sets out to find answers it leads to a terrifying journey with her children to try to get to London. Thank goodness she has the help of the young policeman.
While Sarah is trying to get to her father, Sir Charles Hammond an eminent government scientist, the story switches to London. What has happened with the Trojan Project he had been working on?
The tension builds as we follow Sarah desperately trying to avoid the military and reach London, at the same time as, unknown to Sarah, Pete and Josh who are trying to catch up with her. What happens when they all reach their destination?
I will leave the reader to discover the answers themselves.
This is a fast paced, intriguing thriller and I wanted to keep turning the pages.
Thank you Eileen Thornton for a brilliant read which is fully deserving of five stars.
Could not put the book down. Will read other books from this author highly recommended.
A thrilling and suspenseful tale written in an engrossing narrative. If you're looking for conspiracy, twists, and dark themes then this book will be sure to grab your attention while developing a cast of interesting characters.
Set in the north of England farming community and London, The Trojan Project grabs the reader from page one with an unnatural disaster so terrifying it actually gave me nightmares. This is a superlative "What If" scenario of the highest order that never relents throughout and this reader was simply swept away by the author's brilliance at upping the ante with each chapter.
Sarah and her children survive the disaster but she is shocked to discover her whole community dead or dying of horrific injuries that defy logic and understanding. She goes for help and this is where the thrills race off at breakneck speed as something far more evil arrives in her small town. Sarah is beside herself not knowing what has happened to her husband Pete and is desperate to find him, but sinister forces are at work to stop her at every turn. And there are so many twists and turns to keep avid readers of thrillers gripping this book with white knuckles.
So without a doubt this FIVE STAR conspiracy thriller is very highly recommended and a must read for all lovers of conspiracies.
I have never read such a childish attempt at writing a novel. The authors of Noddy, the Famous Five, and the Goon Show should sue Ms Thornton for plagiarism. Where do I begin? It's all so trite and twee
He had just seen his best friend melted, and the fact that his friend's eyeballs hadn't "would give him something to ponder over". It goes downhill after that. The baddy hisses when angry. Everybody but everybody screams or roars and punched or hits or slaps something in a temper. Everyone"mops their brow" . Not since Jayne Eyre surely! Our hero thinks his wife and children and many of his friend have died and he chuckles because he's mistaken for s boxer . There's worse to come but I have to go and lie down in a darkened room.

I was lent this book, a gripping read, could such a thing ever happen - sadly the answer may be yes. It would make a great film or television series - who could play Sarah?Published on 17 April 2014 by Sue Hewitt
