When I read the first few pages I was hooked. It was scary to try and imagine what was going on when Sarah sees the blinding light. My imagination was in overtime here!
Sarah had been looking out for her husband (a farmer) who should have been home ages ago. After all he was only in the top field checking on some sheep. Why hadn't he come home yet, what could have happened? The events that follow as Sarah tries to find out where her husband is are traumatic to say the least, especially when she discovers Dave, one of the farmhands, lying in the road. What was wrong with Dave? Sarah is horrified. How can this be happening and what has really happened to Pete, her husband?
As Sarah sets out to find answers it leads to a terrifying journey with her children to try to get to London. Thank goodness she has the help of the young policeman.
While Sarah is trying to get to her father, Sir Charles Hammond an eminent government scientist, the story switches to London. What has happened with the Trojan Project he had been working on?
The tension builds as we follow Sarah desperately trying to avoid the military and reach London, at the same time as, unknown to Sarah, Pete and Josh who are trying to catch up with her. What happens when they all reach their destination?
I will leave the reader to discover the answers themselves.
This is a fast paced, intriguing thriller and I wanted to keep turning the pages.
Thank you Eileen Thornton for a brilliant read which is fully deserving of five stars.
Now, with that said, I first saw the cover of this book last year and knew that I would read it one day. I had no idea what the Trojan Project was or how good the story might be, only that I was drawn to the cover. Over the past months, I learned more about the author and read a couple of the reviews. I purchased the book and it sat on my TBR list for quite a while.
Finally, the book came up to read. I immediately was drawn into the story from the first page. Page after page I read and did not want to put the book down, but I had no choice. The story did not escape my memory and I was drawn back again and again to finish the book. I had to know what would happen. I read the book from cover to cover in a week, which is very fast for me. That alone should attest to the powerful nature of the story.
The story is suspenseful and the characters are described well as were their surroundings. I felt I knew all the main characters. As Sara, Andy, and the kids made a mad dash to London, I felt as if I were there with them. I found myself tense with every close call. And Pete and Josh? They were quite lucky. I won’t spoil it for you. You’ll need to read it for yourself.
This story is easy to read and hard to put down. I am pleased to give the story five stars and I highly recommend it to anyone, young and old, man or woman alike.
A thrilling and suspenseful tale written in an engrossing narrative. If you're looking for conspiracy, twists, and dark themes then this book will be sure to grab your attention while developing a cast of interesting characters.
