Trivet & Tetsubin Japanese style Cast Iron Black hobnail tea pot kettle 0.6 litre - GOTO In short; Tetsubin Japanese style Cast Iron Teapot Black hobnail design 0.6 litre Height; handle up 16cm, handle down 11cm Diameter; 12.5cm , with spout 15cm Weight; 1kg empty Trivet Japanese style black cast iron trivet 14cm diameter - GOTO In short; These have been made to match our range of cast iron teapots & kettles to protect your surfaces from the heat. At the base of the trivet are three legs covered with rubber. The trivets measure approximately 14cm in diameter and 2cm in height. Weight; 0.4kg Instructions for use: Before using to brew tea, boil a pot of water and pour it out to prepare the pot for use. After each use, make sure that the pot is clean and dry to prevent the formation of rust. If water is left in the pot, chemicals from the minerals in the water may eventually erode the enamel coating. Tea should not be left in the pot overnight. In the unlikely event of rust, the pot can still be used. After cleaning the rusted area with a soft brush, boil used teabags or tealeaves. The tannic acid from the tea will react naturally with the iron producing a coating over the area. Store your pot in a cool, dry place or put it on display.

I think this teapot is reviewed elsewhere without its trivet. Lovely understated design, possibly the same as the ones they use in the London Royal Academy cafe, is the right size for 2 people (a good size mug each or 2 small cups each) the trivet is handy as it would otherwise leave a mark on the table. I've seen posh shops selling less pretty versions at over twice the price, so it seems a good deal. Arrived in time for Christmas, everybody happy.
